Re: Why do English-speaking fans belittle the non-FUNimation dubs?

I don't think it's a case of union pay, but rather the fact that in theory, any actors worth their salt will probably go union, so dub actors would be either actors who've failed to really make a break, or are using anime as a stepping stone for an early part of the actor's career until they're abl...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Home Release Thread

I'm guessing the MangaUK version comes out later that month. Wonder if they'll change the cover again Same, I find it interesting that they teased Saiyaman but haven't used him on a cover yet, so maybe Manga UK will. At any rate even if this Gohan image is kept (which I hope it will because it look...

Re: Has anyone seen the Big Green Dub of DBGT's TV-Special?

I seen it when it aired on Toonami UK all those years ago. Kicking myself not not recording it though, that ad is pretty much all that can be found of the special. I didn't think much of the voice acting back then but from the snippets I remember it was on par with most of the Big Green dub acting....

Re: What's the most cost effective method of purchasing Dragon Ball Z in 2018?

I would honestly still take the Blu-Rays over the orange bricks. The cropping is obviously a problem for both but the automated cropping on the bricks is a pain to look at, the Blu-Rays at least centre the image to a watchable standard. As for some of the finer details being completely washed out on...

Not really. It was nice to have before Kai but ever since the Kai dub came out it's been my definitive way of watching Z in English.

I recall Geekdom saying it was his best performance yet as the character. Haven't heard what anyone else thought though.

Re: Manga UK releasing DBZ Movie & TV-Specials Collection (Blu-ray/DVD)

So apparently the Broly trilogy will be distributed through Morrisons . Obviously Amazon have it too. Hard to imagine a market for this, but who knows. Maybe there will be some people who have not watched DBZ since Toonami UK, haven't really got into online shopping or are just unaware of Manga UK f...

Re: Did Super have to redo Battle of Gods and Ressurection F for their plot?

Way I see it, if they wanted to do that, they should have merged the stories into one and told it rather differently. You could lose all the nonsense and baggage of the crap in ResF, while having a lot of what was good about both movies, and telling a somewhat differing story to keep the attention ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

I could instantly sniff out the switch the first time I heard it. Here, though? I couldn’t spot a trace of him at all. Everyone’s favorite emperor is in even better hands than before. Agreed, I thought Mills did a fine job in the Resurrection F arc but the switching of him and Ayres was jarring. If...

Re: Is the Westwood dub obtainable anymore in any way?

Unfortunately there's no way of watching the Westwood dub legally. As for other methods, if you want to go that route, sure, if you have purchased an existing home release of DBZ then you've done your part to support the series. I do hope if Wow TV gets Ocean Kai and it does well they will consider ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

I honestly thought it was Ayres playing Freeza until the credits rolled around, Mills sounded and played the character exactly as Ayres would. I'd still like to have Ayres for the ToP but if worst comes to worst and he can't stick around I'll be happy with Ayres. Bit disappointed Funimation couldn't...

Re: Kameha-con 2018!!

Geekdom, would it be possible to get former FUNimation VA's like Tiffany Vollmer and Stephanie Nadolny as guests for next year? I know Tiffany Vollmer still goes to cons sometimes. Not sure about Stephanie but I think something like a full OG cast reunion panel would be pretty cool. https://twitter...

Re: Are there fans who will NOT see the Broly movie in theaters even if it is coming to their country? What's the reason

I have friends who loved DBZ as a kid and still have nostalgia for it but they won't see Broly because they haven't kept up with the new stuff. I get it though as I'm the same way with Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, only having a passing knowledge of the newbest stuff. Honestly though, I'd go see it even if ...

Re: Why do English-speaking fans belittle the non-FUNimation dubs?

They basically tried to turn DBZ into a cartoon. Huge, unforgivable mistake. I am so fucking tired of this ridiculous argument and it's one that's been going on since the DBZ Uncensored days 20 years ago. ALL animes are already cartoons and DB was already a children's cartoon in Japan long before F...

Didn't know Madman released these too.

I wonder if they would have sold better for Manga UK than their saiyan arc singles.

Re: How will Funimation release Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans and Episode of Bardock?

Still, the reason I want them dubbed so badly is because I'm a completionist when it comes to that thing, but this thread has made it obvious that's not happening. Shame. Wait a sec, isn't France dubbing Super? If they were able to dub the specials, why is Funimation not at all a possibility? I'm a...

Re: How will Funimation release Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans and Episode of Bardock?

maybe they can release them in between the time before the new series gets dubbed. Not going to happen. The Universal Survival arc's dub won't be fully out until the end of the year, and even then the Blu-Rays will be coming out well into 2020, by that point there will already be a new series or co...

Re: How will Funimation release Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans and Episode of Bardock?

If it was something like Buu Kai which Funimation dubbed when it was a new thing, but because ofthey TOEI they couldn't release it for years I'd put a release down as a possibilty.

They more than likely won't do it now because not enough people care much less are excited.

Everyone knows what Europe importing things means, dude. Yes, not every European country got the Westwood dubs, but everywhere outside of the USA and Australia that picked up an English version went with Westwood, so saying "Europe" or "Various European territories" is a much mo...
