Re: Vic Mignogna

To bounce off what Saiga said, I'll just post this little excerpt from what I linked earlier about defamation cases:

"It is important to note that a negative statement is not the same as making a defamatory statement."

That Marzgurl quote is not defamatory.

Re: Vic Mignogna

People seem to be a little confused as to how defamation cases actually work, so this is a simple read that outlines it very well. https://www.mylawteam.com/business-part ... tion-laws/

Re: A DragonBall "Universe"

There certainly is potential for Dragon Ball stories outside of those that follow the main cast (the Bardock TV Special and the Jaco spinoff are a few examples that already exist), and I would be open to them enough, but I wouldn't care to see Dragon Ball get the Marvel / Star Wars treatment, where ...

Re: Your favorite battle location?

I think Garlic Castle gets my vote here. It's up there as one of my favorite Dragon Ball settings anyway, but it also serves as a beautiful backdrop for fights. My latest avatar is an awesome piece of fan art of Hit sporting Spike Spiegel's outfit from @DJonesArt over on Twitter. Be sure to check him out, he's great!

Re: The Problem with Gohan

I think the difference between the two comparisons is that Shinji being passive is a... active part of the story telling, you can tell it's the intent and it's got build up and pay off. Gohan's just kind of a big load of nothing for the vast majority of the arc, literally EVERYONE else contributes ...

Re: The Problem with Gohan

What about a character that has to constantly be told what to do and when to do it do you think appeals to people? It's relatable. This is easier to see in the case of Evangelion's Shinji, where almost everything he does is for the sake of seeking approval from other people and trying to find self-...

I've been on a bit of a David Lynch spree as of late, so I'm sporting an avatar from his movie Eraserhead. A great movie for sure.

Re: How to ease the pain of the upcoming hiatus

I can't help but also jump on the non-Dragon Ball, non-Toriyama train a bit. I'm not saying that I don't recommend reading more Toriyama (because I do in this case and intend to myself in the future!), but you might be surprised at the amount of wonderful stories that exist in the world. I think it ...

Re: In my opinion after the namek arc dbz was a let down

Although I wouldn't completely disagree with anyone who thought that everything after Freeza was unnecessary, I also couldn't bring myself to get rid of Cell and Boo. There's more than enough great, iconic material post-Freeza to justify its own existence. Did the series decline over time? Maybe. St...

Just a reminder, but the animation for Dragon Ball Super is still drawn by hand, on paper. Like lots of anime today!

Favorite Era for Toriyama Artwork?

As Dragon Ball grew and evolved, so too did Akira Toriyama's approach to the story's artwork. Bearing this in mind, what point (or points) in the story featured your favorite take on the character designs? You can even cite his Dragon Ball work outside of the main series, like his Kanzenban covers o...

I'm gonna have Bulma in my avatar for a while too. It's one of my favorite chapter page illustrations that was translated into the anime via Romantic Ageru Yo. It's news that is certainly hard to process, even a day later. She was far, far too young and my condolences go out to her family and friends. She had an absolutely fantastic career and she will be missed. Rest in peace.

Re: Glorious Anime Screenshot Thread

I do hope this thread sticks around a bit. Always nice to have handy references! Episode 114 of Dragon Ball Super is probably one of the prettiest episodes of Super so far. Lots of drawings look as though they wouldn't feel out of place whatsoever in the previous series. There's plenty of gems, but ...

Re: Ultra Instinct "Omen" definitely seems to be the most positively accepted and well received SSJ Form of the new ones

While I definitely have seen my fair share of people who are not happy with Ultra Instinct, it doesn't surprise me that it's been more well-received than the previous forms introduced in the newer material. It looks cool, it had a great introduction, and it actually works in a unique way compared to...

Among other things mentioned by people here already, I adore just how visually interesting across the board the manga is. Not just Toriyama's wonderful character designs and world, but also his lovely panel layouts and wonderfully-executed action scenes.
https://i.imgur.com/t2oTSzM.jpg [/s...

To get into that October spirit, my new avatar is from a Zdzisław Beksiński painting. I highly recommend checking out his work if you're into surrealistic pieces.
Image
