Re: Roshi's antics

And much like Roshi's antics, everyone forgets about it, including the people Vegeta tried to kill and they're both respected for it. Nobody cares Vegeta was a bad guy before, even though he and Nappa got Piccolo, Tien, Chiaotzu and Yamcha killed, and almost killed Goku, Krillin, Gohan and Yajirobe...

Re: Roshi's antics

Vegeta's mass murdering actions are all vilified, even if they are forgiven later in the series. Roshi sexually assaulting people is NOT vilified, and continues to be used as a way to give the character "charm" (which it of course miserably fails at) Not a good comparison But they don't s...

Re: Episode #0430 (03 December 2017)

I’ll admit I totally got swerved in the beginning, even though I knew you guys would never talk battle powers. Big agreement on the M2 stuff going deeper, there’s always talk about lack of world building in this series and they blew a chance with that one. Also, gotta say the “blind” perspective is ...

There is a fair reason for it to be the way it is, but that doesn’t make it less boring. Just understandably boring.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

where (and how far) exactly is the spaceship in relation to Guru in relation to the cave? Far. Didn't they say it was several hours away? What you're asking for is little more than minutia. Do we know exactly how far Muten Roshi's house is from the battle ground in the Saiyan arc? No, of course we ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I don't get what's unpopular about this: Namek's a boring planet, it's nothing, it's literally the worst place to go for the big space adventure story. The stuff that happens on Namek is arguably the last good story line Toriyama's ever done but fuck is the setting of it just not good. Yeah, Namek ...

Re: Things that grind your gears

Snobby elitist who critique every little detail of Anime/Movies/Games, and that keeps them from enjoying something fun and simple like Dragon Ball because it isn't deep and thought provoking. DB can 100% be thought provoking, as shown by the fact that people have been talking about it for de...

Re: Stakes

Agree 100% that bodycount =/= stakes. The 22nd Tournament was tense without the world being in danger; it was personal and nasty, the heroes were certainly fighting for more than personal pride, but the Earth was not in danger. That being said, I don't know if they could properly pull that off now, ...

Re: Ranking the original 10 arcs.

All based on the anime 1-22nd Tourney 2-23rd Tourney 3-21st Tourney 4-King Piccolo 5-Saiyan 6-Red Ribbon 7-Search for the Dragon Balls 8-Namek 9-Boo 10-Cell The tournaments are all awesome, but 2-7 are honestly all very close. Really if I were to put them in tiers, it'd be 1 in the top tier, 2-7 in ...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

Being someone that's watched lot's of anime ever since being introduced to Dragon Ball/Z roughly 12 years ago, I keep forgetting that many people in real life and on this site are just "Dragon Ball fans" and not necessarily "anime fans". Yeah this is me. Have tried some other se...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I actually like how a lot of clothes (the Saiyan armor, orange gis, etc.) are re-used on multiple characters, especially when they're all together. Yamcha, Krillin and Goku all showing up to the tournament with the same uniform was cool.

Re: Have you ever saw Dragon Ball to anime/manga as 2pac is to Hip-Hop?

This is definitely getting a bit off topic with the whole who's better debate, but to answer the original question I think simply as icons of the 90's within their respective communities, yes, they are quite alike. I never saw it like that before, but I don't think that's an unfair comparison.

Re: Will the 2020 Olympics merchandise be sold in participating countries?

For the Rio Olmypics shirts with the mascot here in the US were semi-rare in my experience, but you could definitely find them during the games. Goku is an existing character though, so I'm sure he'll be bigger as far as clothing goes. You will probably be able to find some gear that summer in a loc...

Re: Vegeta = General Zod

The scene with Raditz and the Farmer is VERY similar to the scene with Zod and the police officers in Superman 2. Toriyama totally had him in mind when making the saiyans (and Vegeta) I don't recall that scene. Maybe not quite as similar as I thought, but it definitely reminds me of the Raditz intr...

Shaq's son, Shareef O'Neal, a high school basketball phenom and a virtual guarentee for the NBA, constantly posts Dragonball related stuff all the time on his twitter. Hot damn, for someone so young he is TALL. ...Here I was thinking I was privileged at 5'11 & 20. :wtf: I mean, he is Shaq's son...

Always thought this seems like it would be the case, but I'm also in NJ and to be honest I've never seen anyone in real life ever get ripped for this, period. Really? I hear it all the time in California. Heck, I even heard it being used when I was in Pakistan. Interesting, but nope, never hear it ...

Re: A question to the white subbies (don't worry it's not what you think)

I definitely think this problem legitimately exists within the whole anime fandom; people do get attached to this stuff and flex like they're Japanese or know Japanese culture when they basically know a few cartoons and have played some video games. A lot of crazy shit is going on, like the Evergree...

Re: Should TFS be blamed for the treatment of Yamcha?

For example, it really bugs me when people say, "But Yamucha's ALWAYS been a joke. That's what his character was from day one. Look at the first arc. He's terrified of women, loses a tooth in a comedic fashion, etc." And while those examples aren't untrue, they're being taken out of conte...
