Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 4/25/22!)

So even though DBD is continuing the end of the original manga feels like a good time to do a quick recap. I can't recall quite when I discovered your series but it's been a joy to watch over these years. Dragon Ball had--speaking honestly--sort of fallen out of my mind for a long time up until it's...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 8/31/20!)

There was so much conflicting information on this in the early days I'm glad you dug deep and cleared the whole thing up. Oddly, I'm sort of a mirror of your experience here; I've never seen any of the animations based off this, but I own the Famicom RPG (and all the other Z card rpgs from that era)...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 6/8/20!)

*In retrospect I'm a bit surprised how little attention Piccolo's hilariously awful disguise gets, too. I guess the line is brushed by so fast it doesn't have time to really sink in, or it might be part of Piccolo being locked in by the fanbase as "the smart one" even if he often fails to ...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 10/21/19!)

I've been looking forward to your Cell arc videos and they definitely didn't disappoint. The arc really did have some great elements...but ultimately I think it had a number of problems hurting it, too. I'm very interested in your thoughts on the anime version of Freeza. There's definitely more to t...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 5/21/19!)

The radical shift the world underwent has bugged me looking back. My brother and I morbidly joked once or twice that all the animal people and super martial artists were attending conventions in East Capital when Vegeta and Nappa arrived. If I had to guess I'd imagine Goku learned to drive between t...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/25/18!)

He's the reason Gohan & Krillin survived the Namek arc, the reason Gohan beat Cell and the reason Goku beat Buu (the Spirit Bomb plan was his idea). Then there's the movies were his contributions matter more than everyone else's except Goku (6, 8 and 12). So to claim he isn't useful to the team...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/25/18!)

"Vegeta is less useful than Chao-zu because Chao-zu is useless but not actively harmful" is something I've thought for years now. I'm glad someone else said it. What a thoughtful Christmas gift! :) "Vegeta needs to be this badass antihero, so the rest of the cast have to accept him be...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/4/18!)

Yeah, the ROSAT was an interesting concept that also raised so many questions. I assume it's same principle where players put off using rare consumable items in RPGs (or for a literary example, in Prince Caspian when they debate a similar issue before deciding to use the special item)--Goku can only...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 8/20/18!)

As much as I don't like the arc much I do enjoy Cell himself, though I think that's mostly from anime-only scenes and enjoying him in the video games. Time travel is one of the plot elements most likely to cause a story to collapse under itself, and that unfortunately happened here. When you make ma...

I've never done video recording or editing so this was a nice insider look at that sort of work, thanks!

I'll never un-see Goku borrowing Kuririn's hand, though.

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 6/4/18!)

Another great video. You noticed a lot of things here that never really dawned on me before, like how Piccolo does a lot of odd stuff (although I'd always noticed his laughable claim Vegeta's a fighting genius after Vegeta acts like an idiot). Your comment about sensu being a free action in the past...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 3/5/18!)

When I re-read the manga over the last few years Roshi's line before the training, and later Goku's ability to take Raditz seriously and admit he's scared of Nappa and Vegeta instead of excited really stood out to me in contrast with later in the series. I came with my own idea mid-video on how to h...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Goku saying that Krillin is good at running away infuriates me. That's the kind of bullshit line I would have expected form Toei, given how they like playing up Krillin comically dogged attitude in some of the Z movies. Krillin is one of the bravest characters in the show. He didn't run away agains...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/31/17!)

Would it be odd to say this was the single most anticipated video you've done since I discovered your series? The whole thing with Yamcha's "what a tweest" cheating has irritated me ever since I first read the manga from the beginning and realized just how much it required bending and twis...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/18/17!)

I love the new intro. *The comment on the Raditz jokes is something I've thought about before. I wonder if he's a joke in the Japanese fandom (where he's just the latest in a line of scary then surpassed villains) or if it's another result of many English-speaking fans seeing the series out of order...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/11/17!)

Piccolo blowing up Goku's ship is one of my favourite anime-added plot holes for some reason. I rather liked the bit of extra backstory for the Saiyans and their war for control of Vegeta. I actually think I remember way back in the old days of the internet some people thought Freeza was the god of ...

Re: General Fan Fiction Thread

I don't know whether to write a legitimate, 'plausible' version of the ToP or just go balls to the wall crazy and bring back all the previous villains (which, with the exception of Freeza, would participate for other universes: Black for U10, maybe Quitela or Sidra revives Cell & co, etc), as w...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 9/18/17!)

Great video. I have really mixed thoughts on the whole Namek arc. It had some great scenes and ideas, but also some pretty big problems and introduced a lot of recurring elements to the series I dislike. So ultimately, I agree with your ranking for it. Re-reading the manga this year, I noticed a num...

emperior wrote: Super is more in-line with OG DB, where we never got comparisions if I remeber correctly.
It might have been a Vizism, but Piccolo claimed Tambourine was several times more powerful than Cymbal. That's the only one I specifically remember though.

Re: Is lasting longer in the tournament a feat on its own?

What if a character is does nothing like Piccolo but in the end U7 has 3 fighters and say U11 has 2. And U7 wins because Piccolo lasted to the end. But had the least amount of eliminations? But he survived attacks from strong foes and played it smart. That would mean Piccolo did a good job; it's wh...
