Re: Episode #0466 (10 February 2019)

Delighted to hear Julian answer my questions (the trivial Gregory and "Radits" ones) as he's probably the number one guy I would hope to hear from when it comes to language-related Dragon Ball info. So thanks for that, and also for reminding me that those "Age of Wonder" versions...

Re: The All-Purpose "What-If " Thread

Had a random thought about "what if Pilaf actually got his wish to rule the world" - I feel like he'd accidentally make the world a better place. Yeah, he would begin by enslaving the entire population, but then... Slave: M-master Pilaf... my... my back hurts... could I please take a day o...

Re: General Website Goofs/Errors

In the Episode Guide, the air dates for Dragon Ball episodes 140, 141, and 142 are listed as January 1988 when it should be 1989 (assuming the dates in the Arc Synopsis are correct). That confused me for a moment; from those air dates it seemed as though episode 142 was released BEFORE its correspon...

Re: What are your top 10 favorite fights in the whole franchise?

Some of these are gonna be a bit cheaty where I combine several fights into one, but my reasoning for them doesn't work as well if I separate them, so that's why. 10. Son Goku vs Grandpa Gohan (Uranai Baba) This is one of the most underrated fights in the franchise, I think. It's got neat choreograp...

Re: Characters you wish were completely removed from Super/sequels

Zen'ô, but only one of the two we see. I love the character but he's supposed to be the Omni-King, a.k.a. the god of everything, which should include "time" if you ask me. I would have preferred if there was only one of him.

Re: SSJ2 Or SSJ3... Which Should Have Been The Transformation To Have Ended The Buu Saga?

I would've liked it if Super Saiyan 3 never existed at all. That way, "Super Saiyan 2" would never have gotten numbered and instead been known as "ultimate mastery of Super Saiyan". In the Cell arc, Vegeta, Trunks and Goku all tried to master the Super Saiyan state in their own w...

Re: Are all these retcons ruining Dragonball ?

Kataphrut pretty much nailed it on the head. Also, new material produced long after the original material has wrapped up NEVER "ruins" said original material, if you ask me. We still have, and will always have, the original manga and the first anime adaptation of that manga, and everything...

Re: Would Goku risk his life for one random animal?

Yes, I think so. As mentioned, the pirate cave mouse is a perfect example of Goku going out of his way to save an animal's life. Also, the early parts of the story give me the impression that Goku doesn't really differentiate between life forms in a "this one is superior to that one" kind ...

Re: What did Vegeta mean by his last words to Goku on Namek?

It is evident that the anime runs on a different script. The original Japanese script is not necessarily different between manga and anime (though the anime does add things here and there to pad out episodes). If you check out the anime scene in Japanese, you'll find that the dialogue matches up to...

Re: What did Vegeta mean by his last words to Goku on Namek?

Unfortunately, the English dub(s) and the Wiki are not the most credible sources of information when it comes to Dragon Ball. The good news is that we do have places like this (Kanzenshuu) that document everything as accurately as possible. :) For what it's worth, here is Kanzenshuu's translated dia...

The summary for Dragon Ball Z episode 266 says that Tenshinhan appears in it, but he doesn't actually show up until the next one (Z 267).

For consistency and recognizably between the different versions, I'd just lean towards carrying the names over as directly as possible Agreed. I'm always for keeping names as much as possible so that fans of different languages can easily communicate with each other about the same franchise without...

Amazing. Masako Nozawa and Julian actually interacting face-to-face feels like something that would only happen in some crazy crossover thingamajig à la Smash Bros, but nope - it really happened! Autographs and photos are nice, but having an actual conversation with someone you admire is the dream! ...

Re: Favorite scene from GT?

I recently watched GT for the first time since (probably) 2003, and one episode that stood out to me was 28. When the evil Gohan and Videl turned on their own daughter, I felt so bad for Pan (I don't care how annoying you think she is, she's still just a little girl)! That scared wail from Yuko Mina...

Re: Why do people abbreviate Super Saiyan as SSJ?

If the word Jin simply referred to the word "people". Then why are the Nameks and Humans not called Name-Jin or Huma-Jin...? Namekians are "Namekkusei-jin", which would translate into something like "people from Planet Namek". The Japanese word 人 ("jin" or &q...

Re: Why is Goten still a kid in Modern Dragon Ball?

The only in-universe explanation I can think of is that maybe Goten and Trunks are like Goku, in that they remain child-sized until at least 15 and then suddenly get a growth spurt somewhere within the subsequent three years. Future Trunks contradicts that, but you could say that's just more timelin...

It's presented as a gag, and as such shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Dang. I just recently read up about this guy, too, surprised that he voiced one of my favorite Pokémon (Onix).

May he rest in peace.
