Chôsenjô (挑戦状). Not sure what the rules are on YT links, but it's searchable by the kanji either way. That, and most people here probably know the lyrics to it regardless... >.>;

How will you celebrate DB's 25th anniversary on Dec. 3rd?

In less than 150 minutes, December 2nd becomes December 3rd in Japan. On December 3rd, 1984, Dragonball was first released in Shonen Jump 1984-51. How will you be celebrating?

I'll be doing an impromptu quiz session with some of my students tomorrow.

Character #125 Knock (sp?) ノック http://quizfan.takara-bune.net/040/img/q3m.jpg Likes: The master of foreshadowing nomenclature, Knock, whose real name is probably not Knox Audi-Sully, represents the youth of the time: bold, daring, and in rare cases taking one for the team. Dislikes: His shirt, whic...

I'm aware of that claim, but don't find it credible, for the reason you mentioned about hame being an unnatural way to shorten hametsu because of the kanji. Toriyama says that his wife suggested the name as a reference to King Kamehameha, and because it fit with Kame-sennin's name. There's therefor...

Right. Good on you for knowing the qi spelling, by the way.

I didn't mention that because I thought it had been addressed enough in the first posts. :)

How many versions of Hitorijanai are there, anyhow?

I'm familiar with the main single, as well as the Bossa Nova version (which I sadly lost years ago), but who/what is this?

Also, have there been any notable covers?

Couple of points. First: Despite the fact that fans often say that "Kamehameha" translates to "Turtle Destruction Wave", only the first and last words are accurate. The hame part in the middle of the attack name has no clear-cut meaning. Igi ari. Hametsu 破滅 means "ruin"...

I just read the massive Feature. Cheers for the Dragon Boxes in America, but I'm still unclear on one thing. Has there been confirmation that the footage from these upcoming US Dragon Boxes actually IS the footage from the JPN Dragon Boxes? Is it still within the realm of possibility that FUNi could...

I've had this Tapion mix on my computer for YEARS without proper ID3 tags. This has been fixed. Thank you, Daizenshuu EX.

My contest submission was a Japanese woman named "Ha." Whenever she introduces herself, she would say "Ha desu." Ha desu. Hades. ... yeah.

This is sort of a rehash, but the one thing stopping Fox from making a sequel along the lines of "Dragonball: Annihilation" is that the first film was annihilation enough.

Well, somehow she's still willing to stay with me. Anyhow, I can kind of understand their thought process in making the film as they did: 1) Kids under 14 "can't do martial arts scenes," so skip to adult Gokuh. 2) Everything - from short dictators to Bloodsport to terrorist armies - is ent...

I, a fairly competent Dragonball fan, have tickets to see this movie with my extremely patient girlfriend in just over four hours. After reading Greg's review, I get the strangest feeling that I will be single by the end of the evening.

Went to my local Barnes & Noble tonight. Randomly saw a few copies on the shelf, breezed through one of them. I'm assuming nothing was removed? The print quality, etc. looked fantastic. On par with the earlier One Piece Works books.

My first post since the Reagan Administration, but I'd REALLY like that Cha-La Karaoke track. By the end of today if possible, but that's just me being impatient and I'd rather not use the shoddy foreign karaoke tracks. That said, why HAVEN'T the plain karaoke tracks come out prior to this (awesome)...
