Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.

Toriyama's (likely) final published words from December 2023, translated by Herms. Warning: the final paragraph where he acknowledges his failing health is... well, a tearjerker, to put it lightly. The bright side is that he worked on the entire story for Daima, so that's a swan song I'll be sure t...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"

Dragon Ball has no canon and never did. It's more of a western concept. I really don’t understand how you can make this case. It feels like some people try to deliberately ignore it for the sake of making certain points. There essentially is canon in every way except for it being officially declare...

Re: Dragon Ball Without Its Creator

I honestly feel like animating the remainder of Super manga is more likely than ever now after however much they have done of Daima. I don’t know how you just actually don’t animate the last Dragon Ball thing he was involved with (as far as we know) that hasn’t been animated yet. For all we know he ...

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.

With this it's like Dragon Ball itself is dead too and I find it hard to have enthusiasism for new content without him to supervise. I feel the same way. Nothing quite has that same magic when he isn’t involved. I’ve always had this sense that he was the ultimate authority and every time he dropped...

Oh god, I don't know why but Gotenks might be the most boring Dragon Ball character. It's always a chore getting through a rewatch when I get to the Buu arc because of him.

Re: "Sparking! ZERO" Official Announcement & Pre-Release Discussion Thread

I don't really see a problem at all with DLC if a game's base content is robust--as long as the game feels like a complete package upon release, and DLC is clearly additional bonus content rather than taking a game from 70% to 100%. I much, much prefer that model to the old days with the incremental...

Re: According to Daizenshuu 7, Goku has knowledge about "se*".

I never gave too much thought to his comments in Super about kissing. It was just a quick gag, not a big deal. I suppose it's possible they consummated their relationship (at least twice...?) without snogging. There are crazier things that have happened in this series, to be fair. Maybe they could s...

Re: Is this the most concurrent DB storylines we have had in the franchises history?

The dark ages of 1997-2013 with no new ongoing stories (not counting the 2008 special) seem like a distant fever dream now. It's wild to think the idea of new Dragon Ball content seemed impossible and a ship that had sailed. A lot of people were skeptical about the Battle of Gods announcement. I gue...

Re: DB: Budokai losing to tenkaichi is one of biggest tragedies to the series

i always preferred the Sparking! gameplay as far as Dragon Ball games go anyway, but it is frustrating that just about every subsequent game outside of FighterZ has been a pastiche of that style. Xenoverse was decent for a while until it grew stale, but I think Kakarot's was really boring. It was li...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)

Well, that panel was a bit of a fart in the wind. Essentially no new information and slightly expanded footage of Goku on another planet we saw in the first teaser, and no new plot details. A bit pointless, really.

Nice to hear Hironobu Kageyama sounding good, though.

Re: DBZ reese's puff

A brand selection may depend on a lot of factors and frankly, Z brand may very well be simply CHEAPER to license at the moment from Toei rather than Super. Yes it's the iconic classic one but Super is the much more current one and in itself attached to a massively succesful TV show and movies which...

Re: Iyoku's plan to keep Dragon Ball alive and kicking until 2034.

Dragon Ball hitting the 40 year mark this year and still insanely popular as it is, another 10 isn't really a stretch and probably a given. With so many concurrent sub-projects I don't foresee another "post GT" era. If anything it will continue at a steady pace and unless global interest s...

Re: When will Nozawa and Horikawa be replaced?

Unfortunately, since Kai days, i really don't like "heavy smoker" voice Horikawa uses for Vegeta, i know it's probably just me, but still... He's not putting it on, that's just sadly the consequence of years of heavy smoking to the man's voice. He's probably not doing anything differently...

Re: A new Budokai Tenkaichi has been announced

This doesn't really look or feel any different than the games from fifteen years ago, but yay for Bergamo being playable! I honestly find that refreshing, in comparison to Raging Blast which changed a lot of things for what seemed to be just for the sake of being different from the Sparking! games....

Re: Any FUNi dubisms you still find yourself saying from time to time?

I think the only words that I use that could be considered "dubism" would be, as others have mentioned, the way syllables are emphasized ("GOku" as opposed to "GoKU"), though that's more down to the nuance of Japanese pitch accent. It's just the nature of English to aut...

Re: How much do you see current DB character age in the near future?

Considering how long it took to get anywhere close to EoZ, we might get there, but it could be years away. Goten and Trunks have finally shown to be older, and unless they are fine with completely retconning the events of EoZ (at a certain point Bulma's comments about Goku's absence make zero sense ...

Re: What is the lamest thing to come out of modern DBZ?

- Power scale is terrible, some characters feels weaker than episode 1 Goku, that is how bad it is an example. One episode a character might be SSB tier, then another episode he is SSJ1 and another Base tier. I do think modern Dragon Ball's power scaling is more egregious than anything prior, excep...
