Re: Blue Water Dub Question

No idea since like you I've only seen the BW dub from online downloads and like you said it isn't included in any collection of rips (it kinda makes you think that maybe this episode didn't even air at all, based on the content...??? UK/Canadian fans with good memory help us out here pls). YTV aire...

It's the edited Funimation dub.

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

And how's this for more brain pain: it's unclear if the Ocean dub of Kai is an ACTRA dub or not since there are apparently some Blue Water actors involved (who go through a different, cheaper "union" called CLAC), but even if we go by Blue Water's CLAC dubbing rates as an example, that wo...

Re: If FUNimation were to release an 'uncut' Ocean Dub release along with JPN/FUNi dubs?

If you're an Escaflowne fan and watched the show in English, until late 2016, those were the only voices you could've known. There wasn't an unsubstantial amount of ire directed Funimation's way for potentially burying the original dub, especially since a UK distributor committed to releasing it on ...

Re: If FUNimation were to release an 'uncut' Ocean Dub release along with JPN/FUNi dubs?

The practise of splicing an edited dub with Japanese audio to fill in the gaps is more of a thing in Europe. I know a few French releases do that. It's pretty rare in the English world. I don't think Funimation would change that. The original English dub of Escaflowne was produced by Ocean. For what...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

I did email Hendrik J. Britton at the time (who owns the studio) and he explained to me that he recorded the voices during that time on DragonBall Z, and that the studio he recorded it at (which was presumably Airwaves - as Azur's studio didn't exist at the time ) was subcontracted. So basically Ai...

I wouldn't be surprised if her run ins with the law have impeded her ability to have a career. I'm actually surprised she got that OK K.O. gig, but I guess they figured she cleaned up her act ... then it happened again and it seems she was replaced shortly after.

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

Ocean has their own recording studio in Vancouver known simply as Ocean Studios. From what I understand, in the late '90s and early 2000s, work was booming to a point their internal studio was completely booked and they'd take out time at nearby studios. That was with Westwood Media, a now defunct c...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

The CRTC doesn't value a show any higher as Cancon if it uses replacement music than something with its original score. The Dragon Ball shows have the same 50% time credit as InuYasha, which retained its Japanese intro/outro music and BGM. I've mentioned this before, but Corus Entertainment (owners ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

I quickly scoured some "episode 1 English dub" videos for those and LBX uses the Westwood dub score mainly, the others sound good, I haven't heard them before. Do they recycle music from unpaired shows? I know it sounds like a plan because it saves them time, effort and money, but no one ...

It's been years since this dub was finished. What makes you think they haven't already recycled any original tracks they composed for Kai in other projects?

It would be nice to hear some of the replacement score The one time its perfectly acceptable to have a replacement score in an anime dub Watch some of the other shows Tom Keenlyside and John Mitchell have composed the music for. LBX, Scan2Go, Deltora Quest, etc. almost certainly have tracks that yo...

Re: "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan" & more coming to U.S. Theaters later this year!

Did anybody else notice the new credits? Interesting it said the audio mastering was done by bang zoom! Right above that it said it localized by funimation. I'm wondering if they just had something to do with fathom presentation or maybe funi outsourced some of the work on the new audio mastering. ...

I checked James Beach's filmography at BTVA and the guy seems to only voice blue haired or skinned guys. I remember the only blue characters in Kai are Burter and the Cell Jrs. (unless I'm forgetting someone  ) BTVA isn't exhaustive and James Beach is a pseudonym. He's played more than just ...

Matt Hill, on the other hand, still does voice work for Ocean even though he lives in LA much like those three. I'm not sure Matt Hill ever moved to Los Angeles.
