Re: Dragon Ball influences in Western products
You mentioning that makes me want to see how The CW handled the broken arm. I think ironically there wouldnt be much fuss, no blood, no problem.

Re: Dragon Ball influences in Western products
That's literally the exact same scene just with different characters, dude. It's a clear reference. Oh ok, I would have loved a visual refence to the Dragon Ball scene to know that. The post does NOT make this very clear AT ALL. 18 breaking Vegeta's arm is one of the most known scenes in the franch...

Re: Losing interest in Dragon Ball
I noticed in other sites some people are quiting Dragon Ball. Basically they are leaving the forum and no longer interested Dragon Ball anymore. That's not surprising. Kanzenshuu only allows Discussion of Dragon Ball and thus if you dont like Dragon Ball this is not your place. But other sites do h...

Re: Losing interest in Dragon Ball
This didnt need a whole thread to itself, and its not in the right section, user related stuff goes elsewhere.
I am dissapointed because this could have been a great general thread for discussing Losing Interest in Dragon Ball.

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
It wouldn't be necessary, because, as stated unlike the Sailor Moon example Dragon Ball Z has a complete, uncut English dub. Even with its flaws it satisfies what the vast majority of fans want in an English dub, that much is clear because its so adamantly defended to this day. I don't like bumping...

Re: Dragon Ball influences in Western products
It's probably the "18 breaks Vegeta's arm with a kick" moment that's being referred to. So female characters breaking other people's arms is a concept unique to Dragon Ball. That's literally the exact same scene just with different characters, dude. It's a clear reference. Oh ok, I would ...

I think a pic got lost here or we are now considering punching and kicking as concepts unique to Dragon Ball now. It's probably the "18 breaks Vegeta's arm with a kick" moment that's being referred to. So female characters breaking other people's arms is a concept unique to Dragon Ball.

Miles Morales has quite a few DB references in his character’s history. https://sportshub.cbsistatic.com/i/2023/05/27/63c20937-6e84-49f1-a93c-289091a5d666/spider-man-2-miles-kamehameha-dragon-ball-goku.jpg https://i.redd.it/more-dbz-references-v0-htuaa9jatyqc1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&aut...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
I think anyone who is hoping for this pipe dream should look to the Netflix dub of Evangelion. Its more faithful than the ADV dub in every way, but most people who want that will just watch it in Japanese and most fans who want it dubbed are content with the old ADV dub. There was literally no perc...

Re: Did the editor veto of 17 and 18 being the arc villains keep her alive
Considering Future 18 is still killed by Trunks with no hesitation, I’d say no. Please forgive me I am a bit dumb, but this "no" part what does it mean? It's not clear to me. The titular question of the therad is if the editor veto kept her alive but saying no, doesnt make sense for this ...

Re: Did the editor veto of 17 and 18 being the arc villains keep her alive
If I remember correctly, Toriyama's editor at the time didn't veto anything, it was one of his past editors that didn't like them as the main villians and poked fun at them, which inspired Toriyama to change things up and create Cell. Believe it or not, I knew that already, but not only I was not s...

Re: Did the editor veto of 17 and 18 being the arc villains keep her alive
I think it depends on when Toriyama decided 18 would be the Future Mrs.Krillin. After he decided 17 and 18 wouldn't be the big bad anymore? Before? Pilaf (if he counts), Piccolo (through reincarnation), and Vegeta all survived their stint as big bad so there's a precedent. We could of had a paralle...

This isnt Islamophobia, I like Muslim people but its sadly true that Saudi Arabia is a very strict and discriminatory place. I think it will improve, they already removed the ban on Women Drivers. This ban was NOT religious, Muslim women driving its not such a big deal outside Saudi Arabia, the ban ...

Wow, great way to derail your own thread by jumping to conclusions with you pointing to supposed sexism by a recently departed author. Classy. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I love Toriyama and I didnt intend like... say HE'S AN EVIL SEXIST OPPRESOR. But believe it or not, I APPRECIATE your criticism and I wi...

Did the editor veto of 17 and 18 being the arc villains keep her alive
This is the one thread for the month. I know an editor REALLY hated the idea of "Brats" being the main villains (I was about to say Torishima but not sure) but I wonder if this veto was what spared 18 from death. If she was kept up a main villain instead of Cell taking over, would the good...
