DBZ Funko POP Vinyl Figures confirmed for Spring 2014!

For any of you toy collectors out there, you might already be familiar with Funko 's POP Vinyl figures. They are bobble-heads designed like urban vinyl figures: Very round-ish, big heads, and big beady eyes. Here's a typical looking one: http://www.entertainmentearth.com/images/AUTOIMAGES/FU2277lg.j...

1996 Artbox DBZ Trading Cards Available

I recently picked up a hobby box of American DBZ Artbox Series 1 trading cards (1996) from eBay and ended up with a whole bunch of extra cards that I don't need, so I thought I'd see if anyone here would be interested in any of them! Here is the checklist/images of the cards in question ("Serie...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

Viewing Update: So, I recently purchased the Season 1 set of DBZ Kai (the newer version with the Kikuchi score)! I mainly wanted to see how the editing held up in Kai (along with the Blu-ray visuals), as I've heard a mish-mash of good and bad things about it from various people. I figure the only w...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

Nice! :) Any plans for the manga? You should give it a read if you got the chance! Not to mention, you can always rewatch some of your DB stuff in Japanese. It'll give you a whole new perspective on the series! Yeah, I think I'd like to read the manga next. Thinking about either picking up the firs...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

Viewing Update: I'M DONE! It took almost exactly one full year, but I have obtained and watched every DB/Z/GT episode, movie, and OVA. I feel...accomplished, yet sad that I'm out of DB things to watch. However, I'm happy that hopefully I'll get to see Battle of Gods at some point in the not-to-dist...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

Viewing Update: Well, I'm now done with both the Baby saga and the Super 17 saga. As for the Baby saga, I actually liked it quite a bit! I thought Goku's tail-stretching was a great side-story, and I'm glad that Baby had an actual goal. Some villains' goal is just "destroy everything", wh...

Ronda Rousey! She apparently has a "cartoon crush" on Vegeta, and used to record DBZ on VHS and watch episodes over and over again. One of Earth's real life greatest fighters who is in love with the Z Fighters...pretty cool! She talks about it in an interview here: http://youtu.b...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

Viewing Update: I finished watching the BSDB saga the other day. I see why Funimation originally compressed it into a single intro episode for US TV airing. It starts out a bit slow up until about the Luud fight, but then I felt like it picked up a bit, especially once they get to M-2, leading into...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

@geektacular That's because DBGT has better animation teams than DBZ had. When DBZ was animated, the best animators were pretty busy animating the movies two times a year so the animation quality tends to drop, while DBGT has most of the best animators animating the episodes which is why some of th...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

They did used to have "saga" box sets (DVD singles in a pretty box). However, even still...a saga is essentially a story stretching over a long period of time, so there's only one saga: the entirety of Dragon Ball. They could've released then as "The Saiyan Arc, The Namek Arc, The Fr...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

Yeah...I assumed that was more of an American thing in how Funimation chose to release them vs. the actual Japanese airing, just because they'd have to be doing it weekly to release THAT many episodes in that time span, ha. I think they should have just released them explicitly by saga and dropped t...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

I will say that after finishing all of DBZ, my absolute favorite single DBZ moment was the Kamehameha battle in the final Cell/Gohan fight. When Goku is yelling at Gohan, and he just can't seem to make any ground, then Vegeta comes from out of nowhere with a distracting blast and Gohan gives it one ...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

Aw... No debate? Hahaha. Just kidding. I get enough of that with my friend Dakota everytime we talk about anything related to Japanese cartoons. Anyways, as long as you like a version of Dragon Ball, then you're cool as far as I'm concerned. 8) Just don't be like this one guy I knew that would yell...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

What makes you decide if an English dub (is good)? For me, it needs to be accurate. I honestly can't consider their "reversionings" as "Dragon Ball". I mean, if you change the dialogue the author wrote, then it's not really the same thing anymore (not that I'm saying animated ad...

Re: Majin Buu Battle Questions

Thanks for the in-depth answer, Bussani! I suppose spiritual power, with intent, does have a bit of a precedence in the DB universe to manifest physically, so I guess it can just be chalked up to that, as you described. And yeah, I guess it makes sense that the arm raising is more or less just "...

Re: First time watching DB...EVER!

Just wondering, do you watch the dub or do you watch it subbed? I've been watching the English dub. I know that a lot of people prefer it subbed since it showcases the original voices and dialogue, etc., and I considered it. I sort of wanted the traditional North American experience, like people wh...
