Re: OG Dragon Ball On Disney XD? Yay or Nay?

Very true, but blt entirely sure they would think it to be worth the hassle. They always have produced edited TV masters for this purpose, so no reason to think they wouldn't this time..... TFC has one...The movies all have ones... Citation needed for TFC, the Battle of Gods movie, and the Resurrec...

Re: "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan" & more coming to U.S. Theaters later this year!

I pretty much feel the same. The only reason I was excited for this was because of the prospect of seeing them subtitled in theaters. Not only is this disappointing, it doesn't bode well for the upcoming Super movie. Welp, they just replied to me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/fathomevents/status/...

Re: Between the Funimation dub of Kai and their dub of Super, which would you say is better?

My vote goes to Kai as the better dub. By a country mile. The script, even in The Final Chapters, generally stays truer to the spirit of the original with less added jokes and whatnot. I also find the performances to be better - in Super it generally feels like the cast is rushing to meet broadcast ...

Re: "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan" & more coming to U.S. Theaters later this year!

So it looks like Toei's made an official announcement on Twitter linking to an article with some details: https://twitter.com/ToeiAnimation/status/1010200558022488064 They're saying "remastered," so I'm assuming that this will be Funimation's Bluray footage. Edit: So the Fathom Events page...

Re: "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan" & more coming to U.S. Theaters later this year!

There's probably a reason for the Japanese screenings this time around when they didn't do them for Battle of Gods and Resurrection F. Lately, FUNimation has been giving movie-goers the option of either watching their screenings in their English-dubbed or original language formats; they've done so ...

Re: "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan" & more coming to U.S. Theaters later this year!

Are they seriously going to show the dub for Bardock: Father of Goku in theatres? Because that dub was not good at all. Crossing my fingers and hoping that they take this opportunity to re-dub it. Seems like a really good time to do it; premiere the new dub in theaters and drum up hype for a new DV...

Re: Is It Time For A Redub? Movies and Specials

I already put down my thoughts on the OG DB movies in the DB Redub thread: f nothing else, they should at least redub the other two movies in the original DB movie trilogy - while they're notable in that they're among Funimation's first in-house dubs and deserve to be preserved for history's sake, t...

Re: Is It Time For A Redub? Dragon Ball (OG)

I'm gonna say yes. The original dub, while miles ahead of the Z dub, is plagued with problems in both the acting and writing departments. Having a dub that I feel comfortable showing to friends who have never seen the show would be a dream come true, and as a huge fan of Colleen Clinkenbeard I'd lik...

Re: What would you say was Funimation’s best (or least bad) pre-Kai dub of something Dragon Ball related?

Since you're not including the Pioneer dubs of Movies 1-3 (which are the best way to watch them in English if you ask me), Movie 8's dub is probably the best. The script for that one is pretty spot on, and it's even better these days with the Japanese music option. I also think Vic Mignogna's Broly ...

Re: Turner expands Toonami to Africa!

The lack of digital edits makes sense to me considering that Super hasn't had much to censor visually. Most of the worst stuff is language, pervy jokes, and scenes of people stabbing each other, each of which would be taken care of with hard cuts. Plus, Toonami Africa is probably a lower priority ma...

Quick update on the Toonami Africa Broadcast. It seems that they got to at least Episode 46 since they uploaded a clip of the Copy Vegeta fight to their official Facebook, complete with a language edit. Just posting it here for the handful of people interested in the Funimation edited dub.

Re: Dragon Ball Super International News & Speculation (Read First Post)

I noticed that the opening post is unsure if Toonami Africa and the edited Funimation dub ever got past Episode 26. Well, going by this page of the Toonami Africa website , which has clips from the Champa Arc, I'd say they got to at least Episode 33. I wouldn't be surprised if they got even further ...

Indeed they have! In fact, they're even on the streaming versions of the dubbed episodes that haven't been released on home video yet.

I can see it being either the Bang Zoom dub or the edited Funimation dub. Should be interesting either way!

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Home Release Thread

That's a shame. As a purist, I like to have the original elements all intact, but I don't know if I can justify spending over $100 for a single Japanese Blu-ray set. I wonder if the digital releases on the Microsoft Store and the like have the original title cards and credits for the Japanese versi...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Home Release Thread

Do these Blu-rays have English text for the episode title cards and OPs/EDs, like they are broadcast on Toonami? I'm assuming there's only 1 video track, so they replaced the Japanese title cards and credits with the English ones. Unless perhaps there's a second track with the original title cards ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

So is Invincible now the dubs term for Immortal? If so why? Is this because of lip flaps? If I had to guess, it may be because they think using "immortal" will clash with their use of "mortal" to translate "ningen." Most people will probably get that the use of "i...

Re: Transitioning to the Japanese version (Z or Kai?)

While Z's presentation is certainly better, Kai is by no means a bad choice if you're concerned with the pacing. While Kikuchi Kai is a bit repetitive and badly placed at times, I don't think it's nearly as bad as most people say. I actually prefer it to Yamamoto, though I do still like that score, ...

Not as far as I know. Episode 1 exists on the Facebook livestream archive of the premiere they did (I think I shared it a few pages back), but the only other clips of it are the ones on the Toonami Africa site.
