Re: WJ 2018 No. 33: Akira Toriyama x Takehiko Inoue Interview

While I still need to look at all of the interview, I did notice that in the pictures they had, Mr. Toriyama's face was cut off or had him hiding, while we see Slam Dunk's creator's face full on. Guess he didn't want to be photographed.

15 Years Since Z's North American End

Was thinking recently, while know it's a little late since the last dvd came out in March 2003, but noticed it has been 15 years since DBZ's North American run had ended. Yeah, the Ultimate Uncut had still to come out, and the movies at the time would be another three years before they were all rele...

Congrats Kid Trunks on Asgard's New Heir

Saw the news here, and wasn't sure if posting the personal twitters was ok here, but Congratulations to Laura Bailey (Little Trunks/Little Chi-Chi) on the birth of her first child. Welcome to the world Ronin.

Re: Old DVD/VHS ads odd in Choice of Sister Series advertised vs today

I would also say that YYH gives a similar feel. And haven't seen Blue Gender, but heard it's really violent and had some sex scenes so when AS aired it in 2003, (this was back when they wouldn't go over TV14, and the HandBanana ep of Aqua Teens wouldn't fly) had to make cuts to it.

Re: "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan" & more coming to U.S. Theaters later this year!

To you guys who are upset about it being not subbed, do y'all not go to movies that much? While there are exceptions like "Pan's " and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", usually foreign language features don't play at big theaters and usually at art-house theaters or independent s...

Old DVD/VHS ads odd in Choice of Sister Series advertised vs today

Was thinking recently you know how the old DBZ dvds and vhs tapes of the early 2000s used to advertise Blue Gender and Yu Yu Hakusho as they were at the time Funimation's only other properties at first. Would you guys say compared to today with the more recent DB releases the former probably wouldn'...

Re: Is It Time For A Redub? Movies and Specials

So do you think that they should re-do those Disney and WB examples I listed above on that same logic? Also from what I mentioned with other examples with why some guys weren't recast was due to legacy. Similar to how whenever Mr. Conroy replays Batman, or with the Hanna-Barbera Superstars 10 movies...

Re: Is It Time For A Redub? Movies and Specials

On one hand, I'd say all of them should be redubbed. Even the "Good ones" still had layers of Funimation's usual "Adaptations" on top of them, making them highly inaccurate and unfaithful scripts, and in many of them, the acting wasn't that good. But, I get the feeling that a lo...

Re: Is It Time For A Redub? Dragon Ball (OG)

With a similar note, thought I'd ask guys who were thinking there should be a redub, should they redub this scene from "Transformers"so that Soundwave's voice is consistent in future releases, or should they leave as it is? His actor is still alive.

ABED, did Ms. Nadolny break your heart or something? The way I've seen you post about her kinda makes you sound like a bitter ex-boyfriend.

Re: Is It Time For A Redub? Dragon Ball (OG)

The Bardock and Trunks specials have possibly the worst English dubs that Funimation has ever produced. Seriously ? worse than late Freeza and Cell arcs ? You guys haven't seen "Master of Martial Hearts" have you? Grant that's more to it being a terrible show with an accurate dub, but sti...

Re: Make a Ocean Dub of GT

Pan- Claire Corlett Bra- Brynna Drummond Think this would fit for many right reasons, though some might not get it. Also, you listed Matthew Erikson as Gill in your casting; he's a Calgary-based actor -- or at least, he was when GT was being done, I'm not sure about now -- thus he could work for Blu...

Re: Autographs you have and what they mean to you

This will be a bit of a long one due to having attended many conventions and I admit some things I don't remember the exact name, and will describe rather than name. What has the most signatures I have is my "Battle of Gods" combo pack that I had signed by Kyle Hebert, Ian Sinclair, Chris ...

Richard Newman's Captain Ginyu: What if?

You guys remember how season 2 of the old dub ended before the main stuff with Captain Ginyu was going down? Was wondering how do you guys think Richard Newman's ( Rhinox from Beast Wars , Bear Hugger from Punch Out Wii , Franklin's dad from Franklin ) portrayal would've been had he gotten to do tho...

Re: Was the BLT dub any good?

Yeah, that was the thing with the newer Funimation dub of the early eps was that they were lazy and just used the same old scripts. That was annoying. On topic, the old dub was ok, but like many anime dubs of that time it may or may not have aged as well, so would be better if you turn your anime se...

Re: Was the BLT dub any good?

It has its moments. Like many older anime dubs it may not have aged as well by today's standards but it's ok. And interestingly enough, censorship wise, it got away with some stuff that the first two seasons of DBZ didn't. They don't shy away from death, so no "Next dimension" and Pilaf an...

Anime influence manga reading and elsewhere?

Probably this has been asked before, but does the anime influence any of you guys' reading the manga when it comes to voices? Basically when one is reading the DB manga in English for example, do you hear the Funimation dub actors or other English dub actors when reading it, or do you hear the Japan...

Re: Boobs

I think the time period DB ran during also helps out as it was before the age of teen anime girls being E cup or bigger. Bulma being 34-C is more realistic sort ofcompared to lots of anime heroines these days who are a lot bigger.

Re: How come Dr. Slump the Anime Series wasn't successful anywhere than Japan?

That could depend on their age. Recall during DBZ's original US broadcast, majority of the US fandom were kids, and might not have paid attention to certain big things at the time. I was 17 at the time and saw things about it and did watch it. As for the mention on how some guys' parents wouldn't le...
