Re: Why did we never got a Dragon box reprint?

It always came down to product saturation for me. Licensing costs, yes, but Funiroll is presently streaming the DBox masters so that must be something they're willing to eat. Japanese reverse-importing, particularly of nice foreign boxed sets, is always a fear, but that was mostly cut off by explici...

Re: A new Budokai Tenkaichi has been announced

Five years? Yes there had to be development restarts somewhere in the process, that it long enough for the decision to move the games purely to the PS Series 5 to be made. Trying to guess the console market so many years in the future, with development times this long, must be a pain. But considerin...

Re: Death Battle Goku vs Superman again...again

The specter of cranking out another video out every time Goku gets a concrete new form does hang over this, but their second video was both too soon and too ham-handed, so I can believe they did not want that as the final word in their catalog. I did like the battle a lot this time around. The more ...

Re: Have any of your Dragon Ball fanfictions (or part thereof) became a reality?

I had been curious how Toriyama would go about a villain who woke up one day and realized the Dragon World is a bad joke if you think too hard about it. That was sort of smuggled into Zamasu, his doubts about the conduct of mortals being accelerated into action after meeting Goku and nearly asking &...

Re: Your opinion for the original 3 Dragon Ball movies.

This thread inspired me to give Blood Rubies another watch, and I appreciate it a lot more on the second go around. A lot more good jokes and silly still frames than I remembered (poor Bulma's reaction to Roshi's terms for exchanging his Dragon Ball) and a few beautiful quick shots of Shenron. (Well...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

I never caught Grandpa Gohan being the ghost, what a deep cut. I remember nodding along with the episode by the end but agreed that they had a tiny window to go unusually raunchy they're allowed to take it. I think Dende's acclamation and Vegeta's madness is my favorite part. Indeed, some Buu ...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

Now the Trunks special is one I was looking forward to, both the original release and the commentary. As much as I appreciate it for being a sincere drama, with very few Toriyama idiosyncrasies clawing at it, just to see such story officially exist, I confess I have not watched it much. I remember i...

Re: What makes the handling Dragon Ball different from other franchises that failed to catch on worldwide?

Taking Cure Dragon at his request and leaving quality out of it for argument's sake, what has always churned my noggin is how often DBZ's novelty is mentioned by those former US kids (of which I was one). Novel as compared to the episodic sitcoms and toothless episodic action cartoons DBZ would have...

Re: Let's Play DB

1) Kakarot might indeed be best as a spectator's game, for its combination of cutscenes and flashy 3D fighting. 2) After that, for recreations of the story, I think of Legacy of Goku II and Buu's Fury , which cover Cell and Buu front to back with some original diversions. But they use the original F...

Re: What Dragon Ball merchandise do you keep unopened/sealed?

Most my Funi Dragon Boxes still have their plastic wrap, for whatever protection that gives the boxes, but they are most certainly opened. At this point I leave it on because it is funny that they have been half-wrapped for that long.

I don't think I've ever thanked you for continuing to provide the direct mp3s for these, but I will say it now. Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

So much to love with TFS Dead Zone I never know where to begin. The original is such a brisk, no-fat movie that any gag dub comes down to the immediate character acting, and you can tell they clearly understand their process and talent pool by this point. Taka, Gan, and Antfish running wild as the ...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

I do not think I ever watched any of Kaiser's Lupin, I would definitely rate it high among the episode 1s of the time that I saw. Lupin's being so inherently silly doing it a lot of favors, of course. I certainly still have a few lines for Lani's Yuyu Hakusho lodged in my brain. If whatever licensin...

Re: A new Budokai Tenkaichi has been announced

I'm glad to see it back, in any case. Tenkaichi, Raging Blast, and Xenoverse all did certain bits of the arena fighter experience best, and my overly optimistic hope would be that whoever is tasked with the game could synthesize them. The first game had a similar roster size to the first Xenoverse, ...

Re: Deep Thoughts: Movie 4 and The Garlic Jr. Saga

Garlic Jr. is a story I consistently recall being more interesting than it actually is, I seem to compress its runtime in my head. I know it went through it on Toonami and really enjoyed it at the time. As much as the fighting starts to run in circles pitting our reoccurring Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo ...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/31/22!)

Your taking the knife to Path to Power was a bigger wake-up call than I expected it to be! I only just saw it in 2022, but sort of fell for its trap of letting the collapsing story slide in favor of all the pretty Dragon Ball imagery. And as a deliberate nostalgia piece it is exactly the sort of mov...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

Watching Martin grow into Freeza was such a treat at the time, he is a rough but decent parallel to the series improving its technical chops and deciding on its tone going forward throughout Namek. His Yu-gi-oh! Abridged is more of a sitcom in which the characters stumble through a plot they regular...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"

The former Manga UK was able to get a correctly colored version of Broly for their release of that movie once the tint was brought to their attention, so obviously nothing artistic about it. I am almost inclined to think that this is a quick and dirty way to make an "anti-seizure" version ...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

Slug was easily one of my most anticipated movies spoofs from them, as a fellow Slug enjoyer and knowing Nick was going to be the movie's advocate on the inside. All of the spontaneous winter jokes hit nicely, and the rendering of Slug and crew as vulgar dorks who are ultimately defeated by quipping...

Re: Budokai 1 20th Anniversary Thread

If you had told me at the time that the wave of Dragon Ball games that Budokai kicked off would still be going strong 20 years later, I would not have believed you. Wow. I do not mean to be contrary for drama's sake, but I can tell you truly I never liked Budokai 1. My strongest memories are actuall...
