Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90

I have some slightly worrying news from Yong-ce Tu. He posted: "I expected the mass battle's production to go wrong, but I didn't think it'd happen so soon". So, uh... that's not great to hear. Hopefully the final results on screen don't reflect the craziness behind the scenes. Guhahahaha...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90

That's how it usually is, though. What do you expect, for them to make a parody of a magical girl that has little or no actual resemblance to a magical girl? You have magical girls transforming just just fine without exaggerated stereotypes. 'Exaggerated stereotypes', tropes and clichés are the Jap...

Re: Super Episode 91 (21 May 2017)

Well judging by the opening Vegeta will be fighting the female magical girl character. It's hard to believe this girl is on the level of Super Saiyan Blue, lol. 'Female magical girl' is redundant. Also, why is it hard to believe she is strong? Because girls cannot be strong or cool? You don't watch...

Re: So we gonna ignore the fact Tenshinhan got trashed??

It's fine and dandy to want things to be different (I'm nowhere near pleased with the series as a whole), but you need to have the perspective to understand where you fall and what one can realistically accomplish. So you're saying we shouldn't complain or voice our opinions on pretty much anything...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90

I'm more inclined to think this is either going to be a new addition to the Opening or Shida is doing some sort of BANK animation.

I hope they redo the composition for that shot before the episode airs. The background looks pasted on.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90

So I guess Megumi Ishitani has worked at Toei for as long as Super's been around? Does anybody know what she does other than the two EDs for Super that she worked on? I'm really curious, I didn't realize she actually works at Toei. She's does episode director assistance right now. Like other before...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 89

Shida Naotoshi did a lot of mob battles for Disk Wars: Avengers, so if he's started working on Dragon Ball Super then I have to wonder if he'll be working on Gokuu versus Freeza or the Tournament of Power.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 89

Following on from my last post on the subject, Herms came through with a full translation that expands on what I had already had translated: - Due to staff taking off for Golden Week, at one point the episode had only three people working on it. - Cuts were still being worked on two days before the...

Re: Thoughts about the recruitment 'arc'

All of the events here would make for much better flashbacks during the actual tournament itself. While there might be some good material here or there this doesn't actually make for good overall episodes. Scenes revealing the motivations for the characters to participate really should be used to st...

Re: (EDIT: I found something!) Is there anywhere I can read really old Dragon Ball threads?

I've met in real life a (currently middle-aged) fan who has been a fan since the 1970s this past year. He goes by 'Senpai' or 'Hentai' at cons and is the co-manager of an anime shop in my area. He's been doing cons for decades and has a massive collection of figurines and doujinshi. It was a really ...

Re: So we gonna ignore the fact Tenshinhan got trashed??

Maybe Tenshinhan just sucks and all his fans should get a new favorite character? Or just spend all that passion creating fan comics or fan animations. Flip a coin! Right now there isn't anything solid being contributed to discussion by just repeating the facts and how angry they make one. Turn tha...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 89

I asked Yamazaki about the episode. He said that Tsuji, Yamamuro, and Shimanuki all helped share the workload due to the short schedule. I was quite surprised to hear about Yamamuro's involvement. Obviously as the supervising director of animation, things are supposed to go through him prior to epi...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 89

A lot of the fighting was painful to watch. I wish they had spent more time on creative dialogue scenes to use a fewer number of cuts on action they clearly didn't have the staff or time to pull off.

Re: The manga's ending vs GT's ending

I don't see the comparison. The ending of the comic is the ending for Toriyama's journey. The ending of Dragon Ball GT is the ending of the journey for the production crew that spent all those years working on the cartoons. Dragon Ball GT as a whole makes more references and callbacks to the various...

Re: So we gonna ignore the fact Tenshinhan got trashed??

It was a poorly written episode thats written by Toei the same guys who wrote Yajorobi beating Krillin in training before the Sayain arc, the same writers who wrote Yamcha beating Krillin before the Cell games. Toei writers and animators are random dudes each week that dont know the source material...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

What the heck is pretty cure? Pretty Cure ( PreCure ) is a mahou shoujo (magical girl) series that receives a ton of love from directors and animators . Most of Toei Animation's best animators have done their best work for that franchise. The series director of the original series was Nishio Daisuk...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

Are you sure about that ? We're on episode 90, that's only 10 weeks. You don't think we have episodes that take 10 weeks to animate yet? Even with the improved schedule ? Very sure, though of course there's always a chance of that changing. The schedule improving is more a case of in-house key anim...
