That's odd, I don't have trouble understanding it.
Though I have been deliberately turning the volume pretty high before watching.

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged
Discounting all the cutaways, it's actually pretty easy to imagine most of the Goku/Freeza scenes from the start of the approximately five minutes fitting inside five minutes. It's when we get down to two/one minutes by Freeza's count that things get a little wonky, but it didn't really feel like th...

Re: What special ability would you give Jheese?
I always thought that the thing that was special with Jheese was that he was close to Captain Ginyu for some reason. They seemed to be working well against Goku (even though Captain Ginyu didn't want any help). Maybe his specialty is teamwork, hence the fact that he worked well with both Butta and ...

Re: "DBZ has no story." HOW?
Actually, I kinda think the biggest drama fail regarding death in Dragonball is at the end of the Buu saga, when they get to namek and Porunga is conveniently upgraded to be able to revive everyone. Until that point, we had different restrictions on the two sets: Earth's set can only revive someone ...

Re: How do you explain plot holes within Dragon Ball?
Certain branches of quantum physics would disagree with the statement "timetravel doesn't exist". What I've heard lately is that experiments with ... light or some such thing suggest that it's actually impossible to force a paradox to happen. However, we're talking about fictional timetrav...

Re: How do you explain plot holes within Dragon Ball?
I think someone needs to do a Methods of Rationality version of Dragonball, where Grandpa Gohan was... umm... a briliant scientist? ...
Doubt I could convince Eliezer Yukowsky to do it, though.

Re: Power comparison between Goten and Gohan
Goku was much stronger when Goten was conceived than when Gohan was conceived. This would have an effect if Dragonball genetics are significantly different from real world genetics, or if the transmission of ki is not inherently genetic. This theory would give Bra the potential of being the stronge...

Re: Power comparison between Goten and Gohan
Of course pure saiyans would be stronger, if you're Vegeta or Hitler *. (Or Toei, apparently). One of the editorials on Daizex from many years ago argued that there were some somewhat subtle anti-racist ideas in DBZ (I know, the blackface makes that hard to believe), having something to do with Tori...

Re: Power comparison between Goten and Gohan
Thanks, Akira. Otherwise I would have just sighed and said "Super saiyan sperm is bullshit". Or maybe researchers in to Dragonworld evolution are just going through the phases that researchers into real world evolution went through. SSJ sperm makes sense under one of two conditions, both o...

Re: Power comparison between Goten and Gohan
Goten doesn't have a tail. Whether it was removed early on, or he was simply born without it, that's a notable detail, is it not? Also, let's throw real world science into the mix. It seems that what happens during pregnancy tends to cause all sorts of side-effects on the child. Comparing ChiChi's c...

Re: Power comparison between Goten and Gohan
I would buy Goten being stronger because Goku was stronger only if Goku was in SSJ during conception. Go figure out how that would work, why don't you. :P I'm not entirely sure why haircolor changing in the transformation is treated as an unrealistic effect. Is it more likely that the pigmentation o...

Re: Dragonball Vs. Non Dragonball
I think I've said this before, but I once wrote a terrible DBZ / Starwars crossover in which I assumed that lightsabers could cut DBZ-tier characters, but only if they weren't actively guarding it (Goku could block one if he wanted to, but it would hurt him if he wasn't paying attention). I will poi...

Re: Dragonball Vs. Non Dragonball
It took three galaxies-worth of military power, the Fantastic Four and Reed Richard's plot-device-powered son to break Galactus's armor at his weakest... and Galactus got better anyway. On the other hand, the Fantastic Four seem to chase Galactus away every weekend. Honestly, Goku appearing in the M...

Re: Transfiguration School
(Eeps, did no one have any futher information about this? :( ) In the extremely unlikely event that those other two were supposed to be Shuu and chibi Ten, the implication is that Puar is the only one who fully mastered shapeshifting, which makes Puar's quick uselessness all the more depressing. :P....
