Re: Another live action thread (yes, I know)

I definitely think it's possible to have too many episodes in a season for a show. It's a common complaint I hear from people who give up on shows. I remember watching some of the Netflix Marvel shows which were mostly all 12-13 episodes a season. Daredevil was awesome, but some of the others felt u...

Re: Another live action thread (yes, I know)

I really enjoyed Netflix's One Piece. It's been a while since I started the series and watched East Blue and Alabasta but it was very faithful from what I could tell. The acting and set designs were also done wonderfully. I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone that hasn't got into One Piece as it...

Re: What are the best episode and scenes in DBS

For the first part, he more or less says he’s been keeping himself in shape when piccolo tries the initial sneak attack on him. What he was slacking on was his fighting sense/instinct (which is shown when he lets his guard down and Piccolo does the second sneak attack). Piccolo even notes when Pan ...

Re: What are the best episode and scenes in DBS

He didn't slack off after Super, and his journey was never about "protecting the Earth". It's about reconciling all parts of himself - the warrior and the scholar. I guess compared to the others, he's slacking but for Gohan to be his own person, he also has to concentrate on the scholarly...

Re: What are the best episode and scenes in DBS

For me it's the episode with Gohan and Piccolo training for the ToP. Watching them sparring in the rain, Piccolo shouting cool motivational stuff and calling out Gohan's weaknesses, and Gohan regaining his Mystic form. The episode was what Gohan fans had waited for the entire series. It felt like a ...

Re: People who genuinely argue the humor added in dubs "Improves the show"

I can only speak from my own subjective experience, but some of those jokes definitely got a chuckle out of me. Things like Vegeta's photographer line, and Krillin calling Vegeta ugly only for the latter to wake up and say "Who's face is ugly!?" get a laugh out of me every time. They might...

Re: Remastered dub is beyond unwatchable to me

Can you tell me what this dialogue said? And if it was accurate to the Japanese. https://youtu.be/izUAqfsVi-Y It's the dialogue in the flashback starting at 1:47. The OG Funi dub had literally no dialogue for this flashback, which felt kind of odd. While the added dialogue isn't accurate to the Jap...

Re: Remastered dub is beyond unwatchable to me

I also wish the unaltered dub was included as an option on home releases. But I will acknowledge the remastered dub at least had some genuine improvements, however minor. There were certain supporting characters who originally got recast after Season 3. If we include the Ocean dub, Tien actually had...

Re: The people who grew up with Censored and or modified Dragon Ball

I've never been able to empathise with the idea that DB gaining mainstream popularity in the US was somehow a bad thing. Countless fans have spoken out about how watching DB changed their lives for the better. There's been no end of stories about people turning their lives around after being inspire...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I really like Sumitomo's Kai TFC score, and consider it a breath of fresh air after the limited Kikuchi score in the previous Kai arcs.

I like it to the point that I was excited to hear several of the tracks return later on in Super.

Re: Crunchyroll to stream Dragon Ball Z movies & Super Broly in North & Latin America, Oceania, UK, Ireland, Africa & Eu

It's nice too see the old Z movies being streamed here. It's a shame it's sub only, but it's a step in the right direction. I wonder which master they'll use. The double features seem most likely, although they have an issue with the Japanese audio quality sounding dreadful for several of the later ...

Re: The one main quality and the one main flaw for every movie

Dead Zone: Great pacing. Can't think of any major flaw. World's Strongest: Awesome fight scenes. Drags in places. Tree of Might: It's awesome seeing all the Z Fighters team up. Some of their fights feel too brief through. Lord Slug: Really good final fight. Slug is a bit too obvious of a rehash of P...

Re: Let's be real. Future Trunks is wasted potential

To be fair he did defeat the Androids and Cell in his timeline in the end. He got the happy ending he deserved until DBS did him dirty and screwed it up. That was pretty cool, I admit but to me the damage was already done. It would have been so much cooler if he kept using the sword. Maybe infuse i...

Re: What was the worst era of DB video games?

I agree the PS3/360 era was really weak compared to the PS2 era. Technically they overlapped, as Burst Limit came our before Infinite World. I actually prefer the latter to the former, although Burst Limit wasn't bad. I had fun with Raging Blast 1 despite it being a watered down BT3, as it did enoug...

Re: Ideal English Goku Voice?

Both Sean Schemmel and Ian Corlett are great. I prefer Sean by a little bit just because his screams are better, and he had more time to grow into the role and develop the different sides of the character. Corlett deserves credit though for being great from day 1, and establishing what Goku would so...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I've always enjoyed the Buu saga, particularly the middle portion. Super Buu was terrifying when he showed up at the Lookout. It was the ultimate shit hitting the fan moment. The Gotenks vs Super Buu fight managed to be both tense and hilarious at the same time. Super Buu was the most evil and unpre...

Re: Is there a quote in DB can match "I liked it" from BB?

The closest I can think of is Goku letting Vegeta go, and saying "I know it's wrong, but grant me this selfish request" or something to that affect. The big difference between Goku and Walter is Goku was never in denial about his intentions. He knew his bad choices were for him all along, ...

Re: Was it ever explained away why no one in trunks time in the afterlife help out at all?

It’s never been stated that Kaio wouldn’t be able to intervene against the artificial humans. As far as I recall, the only deities in Dragon Ball that it’s been stated aren’t allowed to intervene are the angels, and even Whis technically breaks that when he undoes Earth’s destruction. As for him no...

Re: Was it ever explained away why no one in trunks time in the afterlife help out at all?

Too many people assume that Goku and the others decided to live on North Kai's planet afterwards. I doubt they went there to live on after death. If they do visit sometimes, Goku would know that Trunks is still alive and believes that he would be the one to save the day. After all, he did the same ...
