Someone pester them into uploading the Westwood dub (it did air in the Netherlands) so we can get non-VHS rips.

Re: Dragon Ball Super on Australian T.V. (ABC ME)

Looks like Super has also shown up in New Zealand. TVNZ has added a page with the first 16 episodes. It's tagged as TVNZ 2, so I guess it'll even show up on linear TV there. I couldn't find it on the schedule right now. Premiered January 19, 2019 on TVNZ 2: https://www.tvnz.co.nz/content/dam/images...

Re: Has anyone seen the Big Green Dub of DBGT's TV-Special?

I'm curious if this dub was actually good because it seems to be impossible to find now but surely someone here must have seen it. If so, how was it? Was it accurate? Did you like it? TV ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-9IpbbYTfs  The majority of the Parisian dubs have long been availabl...

Re: Does the original Dragonball need a reboot?

On one hand, modern Dragon Ball material appears to have long since hit creative bankruptcy. It's gotten so bad I'm just indifferent to the nonsense Toriyama and Toei throw out there. On the other hand, looking at what's happening to Saint Seiya's reboot I'm not sure tainting the original material i...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Broly Box Office Thread

And unlike ResF this movie is taking in a lot of income elsewhere something that when comparing BO numbers would be shown which is why I say it's pointless to compare. BO numbers maybe close but Broly by far and away as definitely made more money. The only other country Broly has opened in was Sing...

Re: Why do English-speaking fans belittle the non-FUNimation dubs?

Availability is a major part of this. The United States is the largest English speaking market in the world. Outside of a brief period between 1995 and 1999 (which was so long ago it's now a foot note), the only version of Dragon Ball officially released in the country was recorded in Texas. Everyth...

Re: Would you like to see the Dragon Ball Franchise on Netflix, (Even if it was redubbed)

A Netflix re-dub would illicit such a hysterical reaction that I kind of want to see it happen. I'm not sure I could suppress my laughter after reading a flood of fans demand the """""""""""original""""""""...

No idea since like you I've only seen the BW dub from online downloads and like you said it isn't included in any collection of rips (it kinda makes you think that maybe this episode didn't even air at all, based on the content...??? UK/Canadian fans with good memory help us out here pls). YTV aire...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

And how's this for more brain pain: it's unclear if the Ocean dub of Kai is an ACTRA dub or not since there are apparently some Blue Water actors involved (who go through a different, cheaper "union" called CLAC), but even if we go by Blue Water's CLAC dubbing rates as an example, that wo...

Re: If FUNimation were to release an 'uncut' Ocean Dub release along with JPN/FUNi dubs?

If you're an Escaflowne fan and watched the show in English, until late 2016, those were the only voices you could've known. There wasn't an unsubstantial amount of ire directed Funimation's way for potentially burying the original dub, especially since a UK distributor committed to releasing it on ...

Re: If FUNimation were to release an 'uncut' Ocean Dub release along with JPN/FUNi dubs?

The practise of splicing an edited dub with Japanese audio to fill in the gaps is more of a thing in Europe. I know a few French releases do that. It's pretty rare in the English world. I don't think Funimation would change that. The original English dub of Escaflowne was produced by Ocean. For what...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

I did email Hendrik J. Britton at the time (who owns the studio) and he explained to me that he recorded the voices during that time on DragonBall Z, and that the studio he recorded it at (which was presumably Airwaves - as Azur's studio didn't exist at the time ) was subcontracted. So basically Ai...

I wouldn't be surprised if her run ins with the law have impeded her ability to have a career. I'm actually surprised she got that OK K.O. gig, but I guess they figured she cleaned up her act ... then it happened again and it seems she was replaced shortly after.

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

Ocean has their own recording studio in Vancouver known simply as Ocean Studios. From what I understand, in the late '90s and early 2000s, work was booming to a point their internal studio was completely booked and they'd take out time at nearby studios. That was with Westwood Media, a now defunct c...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

The CRTC doesn't value a show any higher as Cancon if it uses replacement music than something with its original score. The Dragon Ball shows have the same 50% time credit as InuYasha, which retained its Japanese intro/outro music and BGM. I've mentioned this before, but Corus Entertainment (owners ...
