Re: Dragon Ball 4K Remaster (16mm)

They're a talented bunch. With others, I helped fund the purchase and scans of their upcoming Dragon Ball content. Glad to see everyone coming together.

Re: New Blu Ray sets? Let's compare!

It's so disheartening. I can't lie and pretend I don't care about others buying this release, I truly wish the 30th set hadn't hit its goals. When Funi acquired Manga UK I knew the dream was over, there goes any shred of autonomy. Fair enough we got DBS Broly without the green tint, which iirc was ...

Re: New Blu Ray sets? Let's compare!

I just have no patience for this company whatsoever anymore. You're right, I don't blame people for giving up on waiting for a perfect release, but I'm not remotely ashamed to say I'd rather people resort to acquiring a good release from other places than support Funimation's total and utter disresp...

Re: New Blu Ray sets? Let's compare!

No, I'm not settling for a smeared, over-sharpened, over-saturated mess of a release that added fake grain and left things uncropped in an attempt to mask their nonsense and appease "hardcore" fans. "Good enough" can fuck off. Do it right (as you've shown you can do!) or don't do...

Re: Funimation's 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Well, when you said RAW isn´t a format and wikipedia literally says "Raw image format" I assumed you didn't know what it was. I am just saying that it is very common that people do not use the RAW format, because it is simply not necessary, and JPEG is cheaper and faster for a company. if...

Re: Funimation's 30th anniversary collectible home video release

From what I understand, many photographers take pictures in JPEG format because the difference with a RAW file is almost undetectable (same with a image scanner), but the truth is there is a vast difference in the amount of information retained in a RAW file compared to a JPEG, so if you just shot ...

Re: Funimation's 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I have a question, shouldn't the raw footage be a RAW file? not a JPG because I think you can remove noise better in RAW files https://www.dxo.com/dxo-photolab/deepprime/ and is better for dark or very bright details Yeah but who is using jpegs? The images on their blog (which aren't even jpegs) ar...

Re: Funimation's 30th anniversary collectible home video release

https://i.imgur.com/8OjF73L.jpg Aren't the same screens from the Kai and DBox releases excessively green in that same shot though? Yeah, I mentioned that. They did get a touch too green in the skies in the final release, but it's not too far off. https://i.imgur.com/KhuDZVs.jpeg It doesn't fade qui...

Re: Funimation's 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I was just looking at this today: https://www.kanzenshuu.com/animation-production/kai-remastering/ According to this, Kai was supposed to have been color corrected but that wasn’t fully realized. The example shown was a shot of Goku against a green sky, which was supposed to have been color correct...

Re: Funimation's 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Kai's colours are literally how the show is meant to look, straight off the cels. There isn't any retroactive grade going on there beyond DNR.

The Levels are grungy ass multigen print mediocrity.

This misconception is exactly what that other user was trying to convey, and nobody's grasped that yet.

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

Back in January, MangaUK came to me and said Funi were putting out their 30th sets in seasonal packaging for the mass market. They wanted to know if they should do that too or go with the old 16:9 release. I told them 4:3, obviously. Did they mention if this is going to be a limited release? Or are...

Re: 4:3 Steelbooks - Inconsistent Subtitles?

Pretty sure this is just standard for Funi, right? The Dragon Boxes did the same, didn't they? Been a while since I watched them, but I recall noticing the same thing on another Funi release at the very least. Romaji one episode, English the next.

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

There are a lot of wild claims in these threads with no evidence to back them up, and after seeing people in the past falsely claim things like "My US Broly release isn't green" or "Funi fixed Boo Kai's colours", I'm hesitant to believe anything until I see it with my own two eye...

Are you sure ? because on the box it says 16:9.

Re: Akira Toriyama Autograph/Sketch Authentification/Reference?

I don't have it, I'm afraid. I can tell you that Trunks piece is 100% fake though. It's pretty horribly drawn; the face is all messed up, the arms are wobbly with zero stroke confidence, and the signature looks like it was written incredibly slowly in a careful attempt to match the original, which j...

Re: Akira Toriyama Autograph/Sketch Authentification/Reference?

Everything on Yahoo Auctions and eBay is fake. Over the past 7 years, I've seen exactly one authentic piece listed and that was on Mandarake. It sold for absolutely ludicrous money.
