Naruto6583, you might want to delete those torrent links before the wrong person sees them. That's a no-no here. Although saying "it's there if you want it, google-fu or PM me" probably isn't quite as bad.

Re: Will you buy the Majin Boo arc when it's released on BD/
^Is that a shot that zooms in by any chance? I find it hard to believe that FUNi would crop a shot that much, especially given that the Bricks did in fact have a fair amount of extra footage on the sides. Not enough to offset the cropping, but definitely enough that this surprises me.

Re: Why didn't Funimation redub Season 3 of DBZ?
Remember that Schemmel is usually based in New York and it costs money to fly him out to Texas for a commitment like that. Plus, he mentioned saying that he preferred the season 3 dialogue be left so his improvement could be seen. I can't prove that last comment, but it's been mentioned here before.

Re: FUNi changed the title card text for the BDs?
And, keep in mind that the Orange Bricks were in fact scanned in HD. It's likely that those title cards were remade with the expectation that they'd be able to dump the master out on low-rent Blu-Rays later on. As far as I'm concerned, those sorts of changes are minimal and on the level of the Star ...

Re: Japanese audio on the Level BDs Vs. the Dragon Boxes Z
So, um, is there a point to this thread? I'm pretty sure you've said the same thing in every mildly related topic to this, and you don't really have a question. This seems like an out-of-context twitter post more than anything else.

And I still stand by what I said before: it would be awesome to have a "swipe" function where the left and right arrow keys let you jump between adjacent volumes, chapters, episodes, etc. If this isn't too resource heavy for the website I'd like to see it as well. That's always one of my ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" On Blu-ray: News & Discussion
Cropping aside, I think I can say this is honestly no worse than some of Toei's other remasters in the HD era. The Galaxy Express 999 TV series looks pretty awful from what I've seen. I'm really surprised by these colors, though -- I remember this part being a lot darker on the orange bricks. It see...

Re: Favourite Characters to Play As
Hmm... when I played Budokai 1 and 2 I never really had a favorite. I liked to swap around and explore -- and, in those two, the differences between characters was often negligible at best. In 3, I think I played Goku and Piccolo the most; the stretchy arms were fun, even if they didn't end up that ...

Of the previous specials I enjoyed the Gast one quite a bit, so I'm looking forward to this too. While I'd rather be reading the regular story, it's not as bad as the "everybody dies" specials we used to get over and over.

That's really not so bad compared to a lot of the frame jitter from the earlier Orange Bricks.
Although I gotta laugh--if they are indeed using an automated process for the cropping, there's another marketing lie there. Not too surprised.

Oh, that's right, she voices Mai as of Revenge of King Piccolo. I'm more than OK with this, she did good with the comedic elements of the character in that game.

Who would Clinkenbeard even play, though? If Meredith McCoy is playing 18, then there's no one left for her - unless there's a flashback in the extended version with a younger Gohan I'm forgetting about.

http://i.imgur.com/4s9IrPf.png So... there's this poster going around that a mod over at The Fandom Post posted. Re: Funimation DBZ movie packs
It honestly depends on which movies you want. Hard to beat the price of the collection, but if you're only in the market for one or two of the movies they're probably worth the extra money. Plus, the steelbooks are just awesome to display.Kingdom Heartless wrote:Is it worth grabbing the Blu-ays over the DVDs?

Re: DragonBall dub
in my opinion it tends to be rather hit and miss. There are patches where the translation is pretty good, but others - like the 23rd Budokai tournament - make you wonder what the writers over at FUNi were thinking. This moment comes to mind for me. Still, the acting is better than most of Z. Take th...

Re: Did you grow up with Dragonball?
I guess I'm cheating since I did start with Z, but during the Toonami run I ended up paying [far more attention to DragonBall than its more successful counterpart. It just grabbed my attention more, possibly due to the emphasis on hand to hand combat rather than beam struggles and staring for days. ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" On Blu-ray: News & Discussion
You're also looking at a streaming service and comparing it to an uncompressed DVD. Again, apples and oranges. While I do agree it's pretty scrubbed looking, wait until high-quality sources before complaining that it's almost as bad as the Season Sets. Jeez.

Re: Screen shot comparison DB ep137
To be fair, a lot of other anime DVDs from around the time of those sets had piss poor encoding. It's the reason why I prefer the season sets overall, even if the grain scrubbing is a little heavy for my tastes.

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" On Blu-ray: News & Discussion
Do you honestly believe that those DVDs look better than what we've seen for the Sailor Moon upscale? I sure as hell don't. Granted, there appears to be a fair amount of grain scrubbing going on, but the seemingly more balanced color pallet makes it look far better to me - it lacks that muddy qualit...
