Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

Kinda wonder if we'll get some sort of callback to "Shut up, Bojack" in Part 3, now that Kaio's planet blew up.

Re: Help Guide for DBZ Funimation Singles DVDs (links + screens)

The movie 1-3 Dragon Box masters are in widescreen, you can't rebuild Rock the Dragon properly from that.

Re: DB Endings

I've always felt that, while Frieza obviously ISN'T the end of the series, it really felt like it could be. Goku had achieved Super Saiyan, avenged the Saiyan race, and died a warrior, rounding out the "Goku discovers he's a Saiyan" thing introduced with Raditz's reveal of who he truly is...

Re: "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan" & more coming to U.S. Theaters later this year!

Gonna be honest, the idea of the Bardock special's very low-quality JP audio track from the DVD being screened in a cinema doesn't exactly strike me as brilliant. For the movies, they might've been able to get the Dragon Box's audio tracks which are pretty good, but they didn't keep the broadcast au...

Hmm... What do these 8mm releases look like, video quality wise? And in what aspect ratio are they in?

Re: Dragon Ball Super in Portugal

Apparently they didn't dub the second opening. It was in Japanese in today's airing.

Re: What are the best DBZ Movie 1-13 Fullscreen releases?

They probably used the creditless OP for the first two movies because the credited OP was shifted vertically to fit better in widescreen, leading to some really awkward borders when watching in fullscreen.

Re: What are the best DBZ Movie 1-13 Fullscreen releases?

Sorry, I meant uncut with the Japanese title card and credits, such as Funimation's DVD releases of the movies during the early to mid-2000s. Well, for movies 2 onwards, the original DVD singles have both. For movie 1, the streaming version of the Funi HD master uses Japanese title cards, credits, ...

Inuyasha aired uncut on Biggs. I'm absolutely 100% certain of this.

Re: Dragonn Ball Home Releases: Funimation vs Madman

Madman releases are PAL, early DBZ Madman singles are dub-only, and I think Pioneer's releases of the Saban DBZ episodes are missing the recaps and previews.

Re: Has Dragon Ball been remastered to HD or not?

I'm only seeing this thread now, for the first time, so maybe someone has already said what I'm about to say. I don't think it's a "new HD transfer". But I do agree it looks superior to the DBox. Two most likely cases are: a very smart sharpening filter onto the Dragon Box; or, they are u...

If they watch the simulcast legitimately afterwards anyway, I don't see the problem. Toei are going to get paid the same either way whether you first watch the live TV stream or not.

They do use Dragon Box footage... but only for GT and the last two seasons of Z (and only when watching in Japanese).

Curious thing about that plot hole regarding Goku's spaceship, I seem to recall the Portuguese dub actually had Dr Brief say that it was in pieces, but that he'd been able to salvage enough of it to build the version he took to Namek.

Re: DO NOT buy the movies on Amazon Video (Japan)

So today I noticed that the 13 Dragon Ball Z movies were streaming in HD on Amazon. "What's this? An all new remaster?" I pondered to myself. Well, let's just cut to the chase. It's the exact Dragon Box footage with some upscale and DNR. Here are some comparison shots of the movie Dead Zo...

Re: Is being able to watch original DBZ in a non-cropped format for a reasonable price too much to ask?

If you speak either Spanish or French, you can import 4:3 sets with subtitles in those languages for sane prices from Europe. But if you only speak English, yeah, you're pretty much screwed. By the way, the last two "seasons" of DBZ are in 4:3 on FUNimation's streaming service if you watch...
