Re: "Dragon Soul" - Home Release, TV or Japanese Version?
If I had my druthers, I would have never translated "Dragon Soul" (and "Yeah! Break! Care! Break!") into English, even on the broadcast version. But if I *had* to choose between Sean or Vic, I'd reluctantly go with Vic. Because, of course, it hurts the franchise so much to have ...

Re: New Freeza Talkback
For all you naysayers and whiners about Freeza's new voice, all I have to say is sit tight. It was only 1 line tonight, and we have the whole Freeza Arc left to go - well over 30 episodes. I'm trusting Chris Sabat's choice of Chris Ayres for Freeza, and I'm confident he'll make this character his ow...

Re: "DragonBall Z Kai" TV Broadcast Talkback
I forgot to mention, but I'm glad they had Goku's real reason for sparing Vegeta's life. Heh. Looks like Goku always had the hots for Vegeta, and not the other way around. :) But serioiusly, folks, I think the performances from Chi-Chi and Bulma were very spot on. And the whole thing with Chi-Chi f...

Re: "DragonBall Z Kai" TV Broadcast Talkback
OMG. I hated how they always use to say KAYO-ken. It's so annoying. It's obviously KAI-o-ken because the "ai" makes a "eye" sound. In Japanese yes, but not entirely in English. Words like "aid" and "aim" are proof of this. "When two vowels go walkin', th...

Re: "DragonBall Z Kai" TV Broadcast Talkback
As far as I'm concerned, I hear them say "Son" the exact same way an English speaker would say it. If there are any differences, then it'd be because of the Japanese accent. It's not their "accent" though, it's their word and how they pronounce it. It's how it SHOULD be pronounc...

Re: Best DBZ AMV you've seen
Goddamn, I can't find the link anymore. But it's a Sayiajin-saga era vid to Hoobastank's "Without a Fight" and it's just... damn, it's fantastic. I believe our dead Webmaster had something to do with it though I can't be sure... it sounds like there's a clip from one of the podcasts over ...

Re: DragonBall Kai Blu-Ray Box 4
It's not the same comparison. It's all about the context he used it in. "Jap" is short for Japanese. I use Eng short for English also. I use it all the time. Especially the context. The word "nigga" "nigger" the whole word is offense to begin with, so even if I said ni...

Re: "DragonBall Z Kai" TV Broadcast Talkback
AHAHAHAHAHAH OH GOD At least they still say Kaioken :D Now, I'm a guy who's mostly knowledgeable about his memes, but.... that clip is just very.... different and slightly underwhelming. Not only does Sabat say That Moment so memetastically, but Nappa's line doesn't even bother to try to match the ...

Re: No eyecatches for Nicktoons?
Technically, Nicktoons is using their own eyecatches, but they're about the same length. They could forgo their personal Nicktoons eyecatches and use the real Kai eyecatches, but branding is important to them. The original eyecatches are exactly 5 seconds long, as are Nicktoons' own eyecatches, so ...

Re: "DragonBall Z Kai" TV Broadcast Talkback
This broadcast dub is reminding me of Funi's One Piece broadcast dub. Every now and again they're letting original terms slip and winking at the audience who know what's up. Unfortunately all this does is confuse everybody watching. Of course there was the one time when FUNi showed the Sanji eyecat...

Re: Linda Young not to voice Freeza in the Dragon ball Kai dub?
With the talk of Freeza being recast to sound more undiscernable about being a man/woman, my guess is the role is going to go to Wendy Powell, who voiced Envy in both versions of FMA. Apparently Envy is supposedly androgynous in FMA, so maybe she's the new Freeza? Still, I'd want someone with a low...

Re: Episode #0220 (23 May 2010)
Well, as you've noted, we're super-fans. We're going in-depth. We're tearing the dumb thing apart. A lot of people aren't used to that, and immediately assume that a long wall of text or long podcast means "OH MAN WHY CAN'T THEY JUST LIKE THINGS?!" Mike, I went in listening to Episode 220...

Re: "DragonBall Z Kai" TV Broadcast Talkback
Considering that both Travis and Dameon both live in Southern California now, I'd figure Dameon gave Travis the OK to try out for (and get) Cell's role. Or maybe at least he coached him somehow to play the voice.Kirbopher wrote:Travis is doing Cell from here on out, as far as I know.

Re: Sabat & Schemmel Video Interview
It's because FUNimation markets DB as a whole differently to the way they market their other series. FUNimation markets DB to a more mainstream audience (which are primarily dub fans) and markets their other shows like " Shuffle " and " Big Windup " to a more niche audience. And...

Re: Tanooki's DragonBall Z Kai TV Version Edits! *UPDATED EP. 6*
If you type MKD into Google you get a few companies with that initial. I'm not a law expert by any means but maybe they wanted to avoid any legal trouble from the businesses with said initials.I don't know if that's how that works, it's just a guess. That can also explain the free plug for Chevrole...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Episodes 1-8 NickToons Talkback
Cue Mean-Mike here. I don't know what planet any of you live on, but both versions are pretty bad. They each consistently miss the timing when coming in on what is the first " Dokkan Dokkan... " part, which sounds horribly amateurish. Maybe that has more to do with the producer than the p...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Episodes 1-8 NickToons Talkback
Here is my review of the first two episodes of Z Kai on Nicktoons. I link to it because it is pretty lengthy. So if anyone is interested, you guys can read it there on my blog. But there is something from the review I wanted to point out that I didn't see anyone else mention. "Something weird ...
