Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release

Well, I feel like a Granddad compared to you guys at 28, but I'm in Birmingham too. Depending on what date the showings fall on, I'll be up for meeting up if you don't mind an old geezer tagging along.

Re: Dragon Ball Z 2015 Film

Oh, man. I feel it for the Kanzenshuu staff... God bless all of you for the next year or so... Didn't expect the announcement so soon, but I'm excited this. Toriyama seems to have rediscovered his passion for the series in recent years <or maybe discovered a passion he never realised he had> and thi...

Great stuff. DB can be weirdly good motivation for that kind of thing.

Re: Buu Saga Kai

I'm strangely looking forward to this. I won't be following it every week or anything, but I watched some of the Cell saga in Kai form not too long ago, and really enjoyed it, even with the repetitive re-arranged Kikuchi score. The new score has me more than a little curious.

Re: Why do some people want to make DB Dark and Gritty?

I love the uneven tone in the Buu saga; it's one of the aspects of that particular arc that I've grown to appreciate the more I look back at it. It really was a fitting send off to the series in that sense.

Re: What If Eiichiro Oda wrote Dragon Ball?

It's interesting reading the debate on how much of a chance you should give a series before deciding that if it's worth proceeding with in the long run. I think of the Django Unchained quote from DiCaprio "...you had my curiosity, but now you have my attention". If something I was curious ...

Re: How would Dragon Ball be if Toriyama planned ahead?

While a bit more future planning would've been nice for clearing up some of the inconsistencies here and there, I think for the type of writer Toriyama was, Dragon Ball benefited from his write-as-he-went-along almost free flowing style. Sure there's a few bumps in the road, but I think it's actuall...

Re: Have you ever taught someone about Dragonball Z?

After unsuccessfully trying to get some of my younger cousins into DBZ over the years, I've finally had success with my 6 year old niece recently. Started off with just watching a few YouTube clips with her on my phone where she only seemed mildly interested, but seeing her again not too long afterw...

Re: Rank the four major Z arcs from best to worst?

This is actually quite hard and subject to change depending on the day I'm asked but here goes: Buu Freeza Cell Saiyan I've always seen the Saiyan and Freeza sagas as one massive arc, and collectively I would rank that arc as the best in the series. While I think the Freeza saga holds up on its own,...

Re: Do you feel like DBZ took itself too seriously at times?

I don't think Dragon Ball as a whole ever took itself 'too seriously', but it also, thankfully, took itself quite seriously. I really wanted to reply to this thread, but I just didn't know how to word what I wanted to say. This says it perfectly. It's a balance very few pieces of fiction in any med...
