Re: The end of era: Sony discontinues that the Funimation brand on April 2
I'm sure anime was not this super niche underground obscure cult thing before Dragon Ball had success in English-speaking countries. Hell, when Akira was released in the UK in 1991, Island World Communications (the distributer of the time) saw the medium had potential and rebranded to Manga Enterta...

Re: The end of era: Sony discontinues that the Funimation brand on April 2
As everyone will be shocked to hear. On April 2, 2024, Sony announced the Funimation brand will be shut down as the app and its website will be closed and its users migrated into Crunchyroll, who Sony acquired in 2021 and took its name into Funimation corporate the next year. Let's put into perspec...

Re: Crunchyroll to stream Dragon Ball in Ireland, UK and France
On the other hand I don't see how putting Dragon Ball on TV would gain new fans. I believe streaming services attract more new fans than TV channels. I don't know who was arguing in favor of putting Dragon Ball back on tv and saying that will gain new fans, but it certainly wasn't me. I've long sin...

Re: Skipped episodes
I keep insisting on this The CW didnt actually frown on other japanese songs. Like Dragon Soul in Japanese in the last episodes. And NO OTHER piece of Japanese was removed in such a clumsy and obvious way on DBZKai. DBZKai was 4kids trying to extend an olive branch to the otaku who felt scorned by t...

Re: Skipped episodes
I remember the scene. The only edit there is was that they removed the vocals from Only A Chilling Elegy because it mentions hell in Japanese which is a no-no. My mistake, I thought they edited it further. If the Japanese vocals from Only a Chilling Elegy were removed it was probably requested by 4...

Re: Skipped episodes
I've just remembered when Cartoon Network Latin America, for some reason, always skipped episode 37 of Dragon Ball Z Kai. It wouldn't be till 2012 (Cartoon Network Latin America had already finished airing the original run of Kai at the time) that the skipped episode would be finally shown... but o...

Re: Crunchyroll to stream Dragon Ball in Ireland, UK and France
This is why I support Telefuturo and La Tele airing Dragon Ball over the air for free.super michael wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 6:46 am Keep in mind Crunchyroll isn't free anymore to watch.
People needs to pay to watch any episode, doesn't matter what anime or episode that they watch.

I think this is to Dragon Ball what Pretty Cure is to Sailor Moon.

Re: Underrated dub contributions
I will never stop praising what a Terrific idea it was to 4kids and Toei to bury their hatchet and ask Funimation for DBZKai for the Toonzai On The CW4KIDS. Even now I hope Crunchyrrol buys Litton and puts all their kid friendly anime on Network television. If Litton's uttermonopoly is okay, THIS wo...

Actual Celebrities doing dubbing on Dragon Ball (Star Talents)
I want to make this thread because Its a very interesting topic and I always wanted to discuss it. This will be the only "Second thread", I will be doing just one thread per month, because my memory is lazy and I always wanted to discuss it. I think this is a topic where Latin America feel...

Re: Dragon Ball and TV Blocks
Are you talking about the CWs Toonazi vortexx block they aired all of kai but not the final chapters. It lates through 2010-2013 or 2012 I think. The dub was to my source it was unofficial. And the dub has some terrible editing have have most of the episodes but we are missing some Android saga epi...

I forgot Kids WB also aired DBZ. Their run treated the show pretty awfully but they did.

Re: Dragon Ball and TV Blocks
I know this is a really late new post but I'd rather just bump this than create a new thread. Dragon Ball aired on Pokito in Germany, a Kids Block by the RTL 2 network.

Re: The History of Dragon Ball in Every Country
I know this isnt the thread for it. But BOY does Paraguay LOVE DBZ. Telefuturo aired a marathon...Actually not an actual marathon, they just air LOTS of episodes back to back each Saturday and Sunday. They started from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM! 2 solid hours of dragon ball episodes each day of the weekend...

Dubisms from your own dub (NOT funimation) you keep using.
I use them all, most SEEM like Funimation-ism but actually predate Funimation's dubs. Krillin, Kamisama, Pikoro and so on.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Ironically earlier on the legend that God lived at the top of the Karin tower was kept intact. But when Kamisama appeared that became his name lol. Also, the dub acts as if "Kamisama" was someone of utmost importance and all characters knew he was DROP DEAD SERIOUS important just by hearin...
