I think your totally right on this. Would be interesting to see how they could re-brand it after this.KingofWisdom wrote:I think it's basically a last ditch effort to milk Dragon Ball Z. If it doesn't sell at dirt cheap prices, then they can't really milk it anymore.

Well...they are in HD (I guess you could call it that) and on Blu Ray? Will they sell like the Orange Bricks, no idea, but FUNimation must have a pretty good idea that it will based of either the Orange brick sales or the servery.

KingofWisdom wrote:But then the blame would be targeted at FUNimation. The survey redirects the blame to the fanbase. A 4:3 remaster isn't even viable for Dragon Ball Z at this point.
Truce, but the Orange Bricks, which were 100% on FUNi, haven't really seem to hurt them much. :/

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-ray (Updated 11
That's not necessarily the case. The survey could have been put up as a front to say, "It's what the fans wanted," since we can't see the results. Then they can sell their cheaply remastered widescreen version and people will buy it because it's less than one dollar per episode. "We ...

We don't know that. If anything, the average Joe probably didn't even know about the survey. It's people like us that voted. Sadly, we don't know that either. We can assume majority of the people voted for 16x9. So we'll have to wait for another 4x3 at some point in time by either Funimation or som...

Re: Unexpected Dragon Ball in your life
I went into the local Kmart, and in the DVD section, I noticed at the end of the aisle, there was a DVD (forget what it was) covering something bulky that was behind it. Curiously, I moved the DVD out the way... and what do I see? Two shrinkwrapped FUNimation DBZ VHS tapes from 2002. They h...

Re: Found some old recorded DBZ episodes on VHS!
I guess keeping them won't be a bad idea, then I know this is a long shot but is there anyway to rip the VHS Tape? I really don't want to go digging around for old VHS players. I think you need a VCR in order to rip the VHS tape, so it can be played/captured >< However, people like Kei would know a...

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-ray (Updated 11
It's funny. I posted this a while ago. I made it before the new Blu-ray's footage was unveiled (I slapped the BttF logo on it after the fact), and I was shockingly accurate. Except I think mine's backgrounds are actually much better than the water colored, layered crap on the new Blu-rays. Le...

Dragon Ball 3-in-1 problems thread
While they were branded as being uncut and uncesored (and they weren't, though they said there fixing that) What other problems have you had, if you had one, with the release? I notices my Volume one, a lot of the darker scenes have ink issues, like the ink did not take: http://img.photobucket.com/a...

Could someone make a mock DBZ 2013 Blu-ray picture out of this or the Kai BD version? I'd like to see what the outcome may be. In all seriousness, although VegettoEX's photo was awesome  Here's my shot. I even tried to extend the frame some. http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/4769/7tuh.jpg

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-ray (Updated 11
You just don't see anything like the above anymore (at least I don't). The new stuff looks too clean - which can be good depending on what it is, but the newer/cleaner animation seems to be missing something to me. Totally agree with this statement. Sometimes Z looked bad, but there was a lot of ti...

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Season One" Coming To Blu-ray (Updated 11
And really, isn't part of the appeal of watching old stuff being transported to a different era?. This is a great point. You might be able to pass the newer dub with dub music...but how will the Japanese audio , even cleaned up, will never sound like the original broadcast. Wont it be awkward to ha...
