Re: Did the editor veto of 17 and 18 being the arc villains keep her alive

If I remember correctly, Toriyama's editor at the time didn't veto anything, it was one of his past editors that didn't like them as the main villians and poked fun at them, which inspired Toriyama to change things up and create Cell. Believe it or not, I knew that already, but not only I was not s...

Re: Did the editor veto of 17 and 18 being the arc villains keep her alive

I think it depends on when Toriyama decided 18 would be the Future Mrs.Krillin. After he decided 17 and 18 wouldn't be the big bad anymore? Before? Pilaf (if he counts), Piccolo (through reincarnation), and Vegeta all survived their stint as big bad so there's a precedent. We could of had a paralle...

Re: Dragon Ball Theme Park

This isnt Islamophobia, I like Muslim people but its sadly true that Saudi Arabia is a very strict and discriminatory place. I think it will improve, they already removed the ban on Women Drivers. This ban was NOT religious, Muslim women driving its not such a big deal outside Saudi Arabia, the ban ...

Re: Did the editor veto of 17 and 18 being the arc villains keep her alive

Considering Future 18 is still killed by Trunks with no hesitation, I’d say no. Please forgive me I am a bit dumb, but this "no" part what does it mean? It's not clear to me. The titular question of the therad is if the editor veto kept her alive but saying no, doesnt make sense for this ...

Re: Did the editor veto of 17 and 18 being the arc villains keep her alive

Wow, great way to derail your own thread by jumping to conclusions with you pointing to supposed sexism by a recently departed author. Classy. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I love Toriyama and I didnt intend like... say HE'S AN EVIL SEXIST OPPRESOR. But believe it or not, I APPRECIATE your criticism and I wi...

Did the editor veto of 17 and 18 being the arc villains keep her alive

This is the one thread for the month. I know an editor REALLY hated the idea of "Brats" being the main villains (I was about to say Torishima but not sure) but I wonder if this veto was what spared 18 from death. If she was kept up a main villain instead of Cell taking over, would the good...

Re: Dragon Ball broadcast on Adult Swim + Toonami LatAm channel.

I dont blame sangofe for not being a believer. If one told me Adult Swim would come to Latin America, Air Z so much it might as well run 24/7 and running to the Buu Saga in a matter of MONTHS, I would have told them. "HA! Like that will EVER HAPPEN!"

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I just lost all sympathy and I am starting to lose PATIENCE with the "THE FILLER DRAGS ON! LAMEZORX!!!!!!!!!" As soon as they say that, they've lost ANY CREDIBILITY with me. They never talk about how any of the SPECIFIC filler scenes kill the pacing, no, its just "LAME FILLER LAMEZOR...

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.

Kikuchi was 100% definitely chosen to do the music for Dragonball because he did the music for Dr. Slump. So that's probably what your actual question should be. I know most would just think Kikuchi was lazily inserted into DB but he swam like a fish on DB. And I dont mean JUST OG DB, he was awesom...

Re: Funi's Kai dub and accuracy

Spirit Bomb is the correct translation. What do you want? A Yatsu Kisama Tachi translation? Spirit Bomb is Funimation's rendition of Genki-Dama. "Genki" can mean "health", "energy" or "vitality", all of which are spiritual attributes, and "Dama" has...

Re: Funi's Kai dub and accuracy

After reading all the pages of this thread, yeah I can agree that Kai’s dub was, at worst, a 9/10 in accuracy. You aren’t blatantly being misled by the storytelling though like with the old FUNi dub. Small talk moments that change it up here and there isn’t enough to annoy me. With Kai, you aren’t ...

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.

Sadly, Germany's DB Fandom was ALSO in its infancy back in 2004. Dragon Ball premiered in 1999.

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.

I mentioned Latin America, but I am glad he did see the USA, Sadly I think back then the fandom was in its infancy in the USA even if by then Dragon Ball was A HUGE SUCCESS in said country.

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.

Actually, I think that while would have been mega grateful to his fanbase and loving that people like his work outside Japan, most mangaka dont really grasp just HOW BIG their work is outside their home country. Masashi Kishimoto, who is liked but not the same amount Toriyama is BELOVED, only graspe...

Re: I'll be perfectly honest, I really don't like Gohan (or Broly).

I disagree. Even in real life you could train in something and achieve Ultra Instinct levels of skill. But then their are people with zero proper training who match you or even surpass you. Gohan is that naturally skilled/in bred talent kind of person. He just needs a catalyst for his skills to flo...

Re: Dragon Ball Theme Park

Yeah, but it's not very safe for people who are LGBTQ+, women, and other religions as SA can hostile towards them. Exactly, while I'd love to go to a Dragon Ball theme park and I welcome any efforts to embrace nerd culture Saudi Arabia has far bigger problems than a lack of either that should proba...

To this day I think The Nameless Namekian saw war in the Dragon Ball Equivalent of the Middle East and this gave birth to Piccolo Daimaoh.

Re: Dragon Ball Theme Park

Ojamajo Doremi is all about witches and magic, and it is extremely popular in the Middle East. I thought they removed all the magic from the Arabic dub, but no. The one major thing they did is swap the ending theme for the opening of the arabic dub! There is much misinformation for the Arab territor...
