Will the Moderation Team be growing any time soon?

Post by Zephyr » Mon May 04, 2015 6:06 pm

You guys are busy as hell what with real life happenings and the crazy influx of news in the past few years. Site traffic's been going up, and more and more people are joining. The two movie threads are both gigantic and chaotic, and it has to have been incredibly overwhelming trying to moderate them. Now, we have a new series on the horizon. That's going to be insane.

All of this considered, I can't help but ask: will Kanzenshuu be accepting applications for more mods at any point in the near future? I'm not asking this out of personal interest to become a moderator or anything (in fact, I don't find myself to even be qualified), rather, it seems like you guys are going to need some more help with what's on the horizon.

I agree. There are only two active ones. I haven't seen desirecampbell post on a while. Kanzenshuu desperately need more than two moderators.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Are you talking about the Clean-Up Crew specifically? Because there are definitely more than two people actively tending to issues.

We've got at least six active members capable of doing the mod job. That's a decent number for the amount of activity most of the board seems to get. The Resurrection F thread and Super sub-forum are a different story though. Some days they just jump by a couple dozen pages. As you mentioned too, once more information on Super starts to roll out, and then eventually premiers, I wouldn't be surprised if we get another influx of new members.

So I wouldn't complain if there was a new mod or two added into the mix to lessen some of the (future) workload. That would give the rest of the staff time to work on the website proper as well, rather than babysit everyone.

One or two new mods would be nice. I think Gyt Kaliba and Kamicolo9 would be good choices for new mods.

Kamiccolo9 got a temporary ban, but I agree on Gyt Kaliba. After all... His inner-character is now a police, so he should be fine. (hope everyone got it...)

At least one of our current mods has been temp banned before, so that doesn't mean much.

But I believe their bans occured a long time ago, I think everyone is entitled to have their "temporary bans" when they join the forum, it takes a while to get used here, you know. Mistakes do occur eventually, but I believe it's with no bad intention. Well... That's just my pointview.

While I certainly appreciate and thank people for recommending me, I am under no delusion that I would ever be in consideration for a position most likely. I've butted heads too often in the past I think, and have done so more recently in topics that have become increasingly negative as well.

Now, granted, if it were actually offered to me, I would certainly think it over and would probably even accept, and how I present myself would obviously become slightly different - there are definitely things I feel more comfortable saying or expressing as just any other user that, as a moderator, would probably have to be said in a different way if only slightly - which is why I appreciate the accolades. But, again, I just don't really think I'd ever even be in the running.

I am definitely behind the idea of us possibly getting some more moderators though. With Super on the horizon and the forum already being flooded with 'lolz well this is gonna suxorz cuz Toriyama lolz' mindsets, on top of possibly finally getting the wiki launched and keeping track of news and trying to keep the site as a whole from crashing from the inevitable flood of more traffic than ever before...well, I can definitely see that there's probably gonna be a major need for more help around here. That'd be my guess anyway.

Well, Kamiccolo9 will eventually be allowed to post again, and I'm sure if he shows that he has learned his lesson then I think he'd make for a good moderator. Unless you have another reason why you don't think he would make a good mod?

I would imagine the rules for getting promoted to mod, if such an event was to ever occur, would at least share the same type of rules as were implemented for the wiki's beta "launch" or whatever. It would be kind of absurd to not allow people to enlist in the the wiki's beta access because they had warning as such, but then allow them to help moderate the whole community. The latter requires more responsibility than the former.

With TripleRach being active again, I imagine we won't be needing a couple of moderators, let alone one. VegettoEX , Hujio, Kaboom and Herms, on top of TripleRach, are all pretty active, and they are more than enough to moderate the forums, even with "Super" subforum being a newest addition to the message board. To be frank, if people start to post with civil and respect, in which such a manner is required by per of the forum rules, as is reminded by the administrators so often when someone was way out of the line, promoting the users to the moderation status won't be necessary. But even if they act like 10-year old brats, they are still more than enough to oversee the forums.

I do. But it is kind of personal, so I know it must not hold any weigh in the "analytical" sense.

If it's personal, and can't hold weight in an "analytic" sense, then it's likely not a very good reason to think someone to be unqualified. If I'm an employer and I want to hire someone, whether or not I have personal problems with a given potential employee has absolutely no bearing on their ability to perform a task well.

It isn't indeed a good reason, it is kinda negative. But anyway, not meant to be discussed here.

If the reason is personal and can't hold weight an a "analytical" sense then it sounds more like a bias then an actual reason. People have also pointed out that there is a mod on staff whose had a temp ban before, so I really see no reason against Kamicollo9 being suggested.
Going on hiatus. Too much stuff in RL to deal with for me to keep up with posts here for now. Was fun, hope you all have a nice day and future! Volt signing off.

Well, it should be taken in consideration I'm not an American, I'm still learning English and its vast grammar so I probably (in fact, I'm going to) will use wrongs words to express myself until I get mastered in it.

And I didn't know there was/is a temp mod... I thought this wasn't "allowed".

And to clear things up, to me for a person to become a mod one needs to follow the rules like a "flower floating in the air", it should be an easy task to handle. If one still gets a "temporary ban", then that means a person can't still float this forum with ease, the person must know what is doing, know with perfection its atmosphere and such... Of course, mods can make some mistakes eventually, but these shouldn't be that serious. That's what I wanna mean.

Well. This got interesting.

I suppose all I have to say is.....Slander! Vicious lies and slander! Fear, foes, lies! :P

While I appreciate the tide of support, I don't see myself becoming a mod any time soon. Leaving aside the fact that it's really not our decision anyway, I haven't really proven that I can be objective enough as of late to fill the role. Thanks for the support though.

Although knocks against my character when I'm not around to defend myself? Not cool, man. Maybe you should leave whatever grudge you have out of this.
