God, this game has been such a hit! With its success, there's no way we won't get a XENOVERSE 2 that will improve on the game's problems and then some!
They have Xenoverse at selling almost 500k. So more than what they have Battle of Z at already.
Even though VG Chartz isn't all that reliable, I'll take this as good sign for the sales of the game.

But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.

I'm not familiar with the financial aspect of video games: About how many copies would a game like XV have to sell to break even? Is two-thirds of a million copies at this point in its life cycle considered a good performance?
To a strong man, the end justifies the means. To a stronger man, the means justify the end.
I believe selling 1 million copies was always considered the measuring stick for success. Whether that's still true nowadays if games cost more money to make I don't know but a game like this selling two thirds to three quarters of a million copies already is definitely good.
Oh and also it looks as though they've sold 15 million Dragon Ball video games in US and 40 million worldwide not including this game.
No one who isn't bound to a NDA knows Xenoverse's budget, so it's impossible to state what the game's breakeven point would be. That said, Dragon Ball Xenoverse is a licensed game and a Japanese one at that. Frugal spenders abound.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.
Yeah, I haven't been able to find any actual figures for the budget. However, in more than one place I've seen it described as "modest". Make of that what you will.

During the Level Up 2015 held in Milan, the managing director of Bandai Namco Italy Christophe Berrard praised the extraordinary success of Dragon Ball Xenoverse.
The last game has as protagonists Goku, Vegeta and company has sold more than two million copies worldwide, thus becoming one of the most successful chapters in the series. This means that Namco Bandai has placed additional 500,000 copies last month .

Damn. Two millions copies in just 3 months?! That's crazy.
Xenoverse has officially become one best example in recent memory of a videogame benefiting greatly from good word-of-mouth. Xenoverse 2 is not only definitely gonna happen, but I have feeling it's gonna be released 2016. As Dragon Ball Z is going through an incredible resurgence of popularity, BN is gonna want to strike while the iron is hot.

Considering that we've gotten at least one DB console game for every year since 2002 with the exception of one*, I don't think it's that terribly farfetched.
*2013, falling between the releases of For Kinect and Battle of Z, is the only year in recent memory without a console release.
