Xenoverse 3 has the potential to be the ultimate Dragon Ball game for a myriad reasons. The Dragon Ball gaming IP is worth $1 billion, compared to the measly $25 million of 2011 when we got games like Ultimate Tenkaichi and Z For Kinect. It may have been in development for 2+ going on 3 years now, as Xenoverse 2 was released in 2016 barely changed from 2015's Xenoverse. And the Xenoverse series has sold over 10 million copies, even more than the Budokai series.
With all of this in play, my wishes here aren't just a pure dream but a real possibility.
  • Give us the ability to change the avatar's aura color and composition, a la Raging Blast.
  • Give us the ability to change clothes for canon characters, even if they can only seen this way in battles.
  • School/army marks and logos should be separate customizable items.
  • Add clothing from other shonen (as DLC if needbe).
  • Ability to alter hairstyle without using Dragon Ball wishes (as a salon if needbe).
  • No wigs except for obvious cases (like Super Saiyan Goku hair); all should be options for hair.
  • No more race specific clothing. Rather, redo the clothing stats so that wearing race-correct clothes boosts your stats (and nerfs your stats if race incorrect if needbe).
  • Open up more accessory slots. At least give us the option to equip two accessories. At most give us the option to equip an accessory for each body part.
  • When we train with a mentor, allow us to learn that mentor's basic fighting style. At the very least, let there be multiple schools of fighting styles to learn. These affect standard/heavy/ki attacks and do not prevent you from using any particular ability. However, if you were to use a particular school or mentor's special attack, that special or ultimate will get some sort of bonus.
  • Allow us to choose between working for the Time Patrol (Heroes), Time Breakers (Villains), or Fu (Neutral).
  • Give us a storyline that isn't "What if Character Was Stronger?" with no consequences.
  • Give us a dedicated "Create a PQ" mode where you can edit enemies, arenas, forms, allies, buffs, nerfs, and perhaps even add speech bubbles.
  • Allow us to level up abilities to unlock new abilities as an incentive to use them all. For example, Kamehameha and Kamehameha x10 shouldn't be separate supers. Rather, if I use Kamehameha enough (successfully), I can eventually level it up to Kamehameha x10 or Super Kamehameha.
  • Increase the size of the hubworld. Make the entirety of Earth in the Dragon World if needbe. Also add a Day-Night cycle.
  • Bring back beam struggles.
  • Give us FighterZ's graphics.
In terms of the roster, well I think they ought to include every DLC character from Xenoverse 2 from the getgo. I can understand if they still lock Broly (Super) away. But they ought to give us Kid Goku, Super Android 13, Super Bojack, Semi-Perfect Cell, and Freeza's other forms at the very least. It would also make no sense if they didn't give us Caulifla, Kale, and Toppo. Besides that, the roster's fine. Damn healthy, even. Xenoverse 2 with all DLC has over 100 characters, which certainly tickles my inner Tenkaichi fan. I could certainly go for adding Selipa, Zangya, Gine, and 21 though, even if they are locked behind wishes.
I want to add to this:
Among the most recent updates: the ability to be able to select our alt CACs as additional party members for PQs; this should be the standard and should also be carried over to XV3 at the vanilla level.

To keep it going:
  • Guard + X (on PS4) = Ki charge. Don't make me waste a special attack slot just to equip something so utterly basic.
  • Fewer escort missions (is that even the right word?). They really got carried away with this in XV2: more than half the PQs consist of "make sure Character X" doesn't die!"
  • Partner commands. One of the damn reasons why escort missions are so difficult is because healing items don't affect the mission sensitive escort, so I have to use Energy Zone— but they'll quickly dash after an enemy right as the healing part of the animation begins and I just waste some ki. I should be able to L2 + (direction) this nonsense to order my partners to either defend me, attack a particular opponent, transform (if they can), or whatnot.
  • Retool the weight stats so that some transformations (like Super Vegeta or Power Weighed) makes your character buffed and thus slower and burns through stamina much more quickly.
  • No more rolling when flying. It works for a childlike character when there's sunshine and blue skies, but even then it can break immersion. Why not press a button to do
tricks while flying rather than having it done automatically?
  • Someone employ Al Qaeda to blow up that TP medal shop. Why is there a rotating block of items? Why even have TP medals? Why not instead turn the TP Medal Shop into a frustration aide— if the RNG fucks you over and you Z rank a PQ two or three times and still don't get a drop, that item appears in the special shop for a high price. Give us something to spend zeni on!
  • I don't know, why bother posting this here? Catharsis?

One of the things that people often feel upset about when it came to Xenoverse 1 and 2 is that the CaCs weren't properly voice acted. The limit of their dialog was always a half-hearted nod and over-acted silent reactions, with their only voice clips playing for attacks, injury, and some of the hub world gags.

When Xenoverse first came out, Dragon Ball games felt pretty low budget, like most of the game's budget went into the license alone. And when the IP was only bringing in a limited amount of money each year and you have to push a game out every single year, that means we get rushed, sloppily done titles that either barely change anything from the previous game or have "gameplay innovations" that save the developers money. But I digress.

That same lack of budget can explain why Xenoverse had to juggle between two options: having fewer voices but a fully voice-acted story, or having many voices but without much voice acting. We got the latter for 1 and 2.

There are 20 voices in Xenoverse and 30 in Xenoverse 2 IIRC. That means they'd need to get every single actor to record every single line in the game. Even for AAA games with $100+ million budgets, that's not an easy task, so it makes sense why they "cheapened out" on us.

Now consider that many people also want these voices to have different personalities, meaning they'll react to things differently. AKA I might want Male Voice 7 but with a "Kooky" personality rather than an "Evil" or "Silent" personality. Now all those voices need alternate takes with every line.

At least before this past year, I'd say "Yeah, sorry, we're definitely not getting that."

It worked in Ultimate Tenkaichi's Hero Mode because each personality was its own voice. Now if I ever have to praise Ultimate Tenkaichi again, I want someone to drive an icepick through my skull.

It could work here... but they'd need to reduce the number of voices. And there is a way to offset that.

Remember Saints Row 4? I believe there were 8 voices; two were gag voices (Nolan North & Zombie) and there were three male voices and three female voices. Fully voice acted stories mean fewer voice actors to choose from, so Saints Row 4 got around that by also giving you a pitch slider for your voice. You could give your voice helium (chipmunk-esque), sulfur hexaflouride (devil-esque), and everything in between.

If they reduced the number of voices from 30 to 6 or 7 and then gave us a way to add personalities to each voice as well as change the pitch of the voice, I'd say that would work out much better, make up the difference, and also allow us to have a fully voice acted story-line.
I mean, this is still a Dragon Ball game so the voice acting is going to be lukewarm mung milked from a fat grandma's corpse, but it would still be a step forward.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but wouldn't this thread be better off in the master Xenoverse 3 Wishlist thread?
