I can't seem to get past the spamming Kamehamehas in the quest that Trunks offers in order to win something to give to Videl.

I’m assuming you’re talking about Xenoverse 1? That PQ was awful. Basically impossible to do solo, you’ll need to hook up with someone online.

Apparently Tenshinhans Zsould makes you immune to kamehamehas and thus the level winnable.
Yamcha almost certainly did not cheat on Bulma:
He was afraid of Women, Bulma was the flirty one.

If this is Xenoverse 1:
- Use combos that bounce people around so you're always moving around the battlefield.
- Use supers with invincibility frames (like Perfect Kamehameha).
- As above, Tien's Z-Soul can make you immune to Kamehamea's.
