VegettoEX wrote:That's just not an accurate assessment. The Kai pieces that WE have at least documented are for good reason: they're note-for-note/progression-for-progression the same as the blockbuster films they're stripped from. If it wasn't such a legitimate concern, Toei would not have - for example - done the interstitial edit specifically removing "The Ebb and The Flow" from episode 56 before doing the full Kikuchi swipe.
It is absolutely not just a case of "tenuous at best" connections with these Kai tunes. These are not just some short chord patterns. I mean, the random "clank" noises in the Terminator song happen at the exact same point in "A New Foe Rears His Head" beyond all the other stuff that's being played as-is.
VegettoEX, I Got a couple of questions about the new "Godly Best" collection that came out:
1) What was the main reason many of the insert songs were not included? I don't think it was just because of Yamamoto, because several of the songs he arranged (arranged, not composed) are on the collection.
2) In the liner notes, is he still credited as an arranger on several songs?
Does anyone here know if Yamamoto plagiarized from something with this soundtrack too? It's one of my favourite pieces, it would be too bad if he stole it as well.

Like I said above, shouldn't this be Public Domain? Gustav Mahler's works were published before 1923. Everything after 1923 is copyrighted, unless said rights were not renewed.

It's the principle of the matter here.

As hardcore DB fans know, Yamamoto started his career as merely an arranger. What if he had just stuck with arranging, and never moved on to composing?
I think he'd still be involved with the franchise, and be involved with the latest DBZ movies and DB Super.

We'll have standards. We'll have quality control. We'll have better information. And I'm sure, people will naturally gravitate to it once there is some substance.
The best way to fix the giant cancer that is the DB Wiki is to provide an alternative for those who really want it. Even those who prefer dub names will wind up looking things up on the Kanzenshuu Wiki. Because sooner or later, they're going to need information they know they can trust.

Sheesh, damn near all of my favorite Kai tracks were blatantly ripped off from elsewhere (several from the Mortal Kombat Movie soundtrack, for example). I know ripoffs in general are extremely common in TV show soundtracks, oftentimes to compensate for not being able to secure licensed tracks, but this guy just took it to a new level. Especially those Kai tracks like the Avatar and Terminator stuff that were just note for note plagiarism.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words? Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up! I've heard some people compare it to the Buoy Base Galaxy music from Super Mario Galaxy. I can hear some similarities between those two, but not enough to definitively say that The Braveheart Challenges the Strong came specifically from that song.
