Why is there a lack of french horns on Z Kikuchi Score?

I don't think I hear French horns on Z score by kikuchi, while there were some french horns on his classic Dragon ball soundtrack. I find that odd.

Early Kikuchi tracks on DB also had a lot of 80's synthesizers. These were pretty much abandoned by 1988 or 1989.

Can you provide examples for the synthetizers?

Because he comes from a time when jazz bands/arrangers were used for scoring cartoons and many TV shows. You might notice there are saxes in the score. Those aren't part of a standard orchestra and usually aren't in movie scores unless they want a jazz feel.

French horns are rarely in jazz. Strings can be though.

The old Transformers score from the 80s is exactly the same way (the original score before the 86 movie)

Well that makes a lot of sense!. If the jazzy feel was popular in Kikuchi's time, specially with his older scores.
Now that i think about it, he never left the synths entirely, there is some synth-work on DBZ, Check this out.
