Faulconer score: orchestral, jazz, 'acoustic'

Post by cRookie_Monster » Thu Mar 23, 2017 6:04 am

Hey guys,

I wanted to present a list of Faulconer Productions tracks that are orchestral, jazzy, or just 'acoustic'.

I guess I wanted to show it wasn't all "hard core synth rock" by any means. I've never written so many different styles for one project.

Disclaimers

-These all of course are synths imitating live instruments. As you know, we didn't have time or budget to record real instruments. Then there's the wall to wall music problem, having to make a lot of tracks quickly to fill up the shows.

-There are synth sounds mixed in occasionally, or drums. I tried to pick the more pure tracks.

Nice list, I never got why some people had the preconceived notion that most of Falconer's Production's music was mostly composed of just rock; when ironically there was ton of a variety.

In my opinion, a lot of these sound like synth video game music arranged for ensembles. A lot of them have synthesized stuff in them as well.

"My opinion of Norihito's Sumitomo's new score is... well, very mixed. The stuff that's good is pretty darn good, but the stuff that's bad makes elevator music sound like Jerry freaking Goldsmith." -Kenisu

:D Always enjoyed these tracks. A portion of them for some reason remind me of old school RPGs. It's hard to describe, but it feels like they wouldn't seem out of place in something like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. Some of Tokunaga's and Johnson's tracks had a similar vibe, as does some of Sumitomo's. I'm not good at putting music into words, so I can't quite place it. The stuff from the Frieza arc especially.

I always felt the same way, which is probly' why the tracks felt incredibly nature when they were translated to the GBA's soundfont.
Stuff like New Earth Theme just fits perfectly as the 'peaceful town' theme from JRPGs.

This isn't speaking ill of it at all, I adore some of these compositions, but they do sound very 'gamey'.
