Episode #0240! VegettoEX, Meri, and Jeff dive into Volume 36 in our "Manga Review of Awesomeness". The final story arc has begun and Toriyama has aged up the cast, introduced new characters, and brought things back to a comedic tone. Was this the last and most obvious direction to take the series, and does a little down-time do a story good? KaiserNeko of TeamFourStar also stops by to talk about the month's biggest news, including "DragonBall SD", two new video games on the horizon, and much more! Referenced sites:
Been a while on the manga review, so please enjoy! We had a great time with this part of the series, both in reading and talking about it, and hope you do the same. Also, sorry for the somewhat "spacey" sound during the main bits... haven't hooked up three mics in a while.
w0rd.

Well, in terms of jobs...doesn't Yamcha still play baseball? I'm sure he gets a lot of dough with his physical strength and speed.
Nice having a return to the Manga Review of Awesomeness. I hope it can keep up regularly again...

About the Great Saiyaman movie being made does anyone remember that it was Commander Red as the director of the movie.

@ Meri, I like the little Blues Brothers reference at the end of the podcast, "Get the band back to together."

Yea, I remember that. Although, it was a character design that looked just like Commander Red but wasn't
actually Commander Red. It actually happens a few times in the series. I'm surprised there isn't a thread about it, hmm...

Great episode guys! Nice to have Jeff and the Manga Review of Awesomeness back. We're finally at the Boo arc, and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this quirky arc.
Mike I also have a bone to pick with you. Great Saiyaman is based on the concepts of Kamen Rider not Sentai. Although personally I always thought Saiyaman was based more American Super Heroes. The helmet, poses, etc. are all Kamen Rider. But going to high school, fighting crime are more like Spider-Man than Kamen Rider. Riders at this point in time have been college-aged and even older, they were out for revenge, fought monsters, a stark contrast to Saiyaman. Heck at this point the Rider series was dead on TV, it was being kept alive by darker movies aimed at adults and stage shows. I guess Toriyama must have enjoyed a Rider series in his day.
Also, since Jeff's DB cherry has been quote-on-quote "popped". Maybe he could start posting. He has an acount. *wink, wink*

I realized what I said after I said it. I couldn't undo! Ctrl+Z in normal conversation doesn't work!

Enjoyed the episode.
But there was one thing though that I didn't quite agree with and that was: Piccolo not having cared about the tournament itself , when he entered it to kill Goku .
Now, I agree that killing Goku WAS his main objective but if that was all that he had been interested in, why choose to do it during the tournament. It couldn't have been for the audience because nobody knew that Goku had been the one that killed the old Piccolo and there would have been no huge world wide media impact "the hero that saved you last time is dead, etc." Neither does he seem particulary interested in them before or after his real identy had been discovered.
In fact I remember him being upset over the fact that he was about to be disqualified when he thought he killed Krillin during their match. The simple fact that he was playing along, putting up with being around so many people is also proof. I really think he enjoyed the tournament. Not as much as Goku did , but still.
And yes, I think this was very important and I had to share it with the rest of the world. I can now go to bed pleased with myself.
