Started listening to this episode a little before the thread went up by adjusting the URL for the previous episode.
How far in advance does the episode goes up?
Anyway, I've been waiting for this episode since the new trailer came out (sad, I know).

They're not sitting there for days, or anything. You just happened to grab it as I'm literally putting the show up.

You should call the new movie the "Makaioshin Arc"

PIlaf and gang could be like the team rocket of this movie and technically be bad guys BUT could do something good in the end.
And STILL....Gohan's hair.

That is an interesting theory you've got about Uisu and Birusu, and one that I haven't heard before in the thread.
What I want to see most from this movie at the moment is: using the movie tie-in figurine as a jumping point, what happened to Vegeta to cause that facial expression/pose he's in and is it due to Birusu or Uisu's magic?
My runner up for "want to see" would be "How did Pilaf Gang get shrunken to such a tiny size? Magic or Technology (like Bulma's shrink-watch)?"
As for stuff I do not want to see; I've got to agree with something mentioned in the podcast, which I think I can type up as "endings I've seen before"; examples being "genki dama", "Gogeta", and "ssj3".
I would not mind a special movie-only transformation though.

As I tend to say at almost every juncture, I really cannot wait to see Shida Naotoshi's animation cut. I'm hoping Oonishi Ryou contributes an awesome cut, too. Kurita Shin'ichi, too, considering he worked on Dragon Ball Ultimate Blast.

Re: Episode #0317 (09 December 2012)
We don't know for sure that bad Shinjin are where Makaio/Makaioshin come from. Toriyama's explanation is pretty vague on this aspect, only saying that bad Shinjin "go to" the Makaio. It could be that they become potential canidates for new Makaio, but it's also possible they just ally themselves with the Makaio, or something else.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

Spelling error on the 2nd paragraph of the podcast article on the main site; it says "famdom" instead of "fandom". ^^;;
I feel awkward pointing that out, but I'd rather do it here than in the comments section of the news article itself. It feels more discreet this way.

Interesting podcast this week, I think the most interesting thing that I hadn't heard before was your Bils/Whis theory. Now I want it to happen.

Re: Episode #0317 (09 December 2012)
I actually had the same idea for what I was wanting from Bils and Whis out of the Battle of Gods plot, I was just too scared to bring it up. Always seems like what I want is never what happens, so I figured if I kept it to my self it may come to pass. xD
Re: Episode #0317 (09 December 2012)
@Heath: I said this already over in the appropriate thread, but no, nothing ever explicitly states that Gohan can't become a Super Saiyan after the ritual. I did always interpret it that way, though, since if doing his "Super-thing" just brought his power out without transforming, how would he transform even if he wanted to? Still, that was an interpretation based on what we'd seen up to that point, and it's only natural that new information would cause me to rethink it. That's when the topic becomes interesting, if you ask me. If Gohan can still become a Super Saiyan, is it instead of the "Strongest Warrior" thing, or in addition to it? If it's the latter, it would have been helpful against Buu; also if it's the latter, shouldn't that make Gohan the strongest guy by a wide margin in the new movie? I'm sure you care more about the plot than about who's strongest, but something like that can't not affect the plot, can it?
Questions like those make it a worthwhile thing to talk about, I think.

Re: Episode #0317 (09 December 2012)
Gotta say, I really like the idea of Bils or whatever being tricked by a potential Makaioshin Whis, I hadn't thought of that before hearing it in the podcast.
As for the question of where to put this movie on the site, since you don't want it with the original 13 movies really - would it be feasible to split the movie section for it? Not separate it into a different page or anything, but to add a small space and then this movie (and any that may eventually potentially follow) would be under a new heading. As for the heading...hmm...I have absolutely no idea what term could apply, but maybe take a page from the Godzilla franchise's book.
The Godzilla franchise has it's films split into era's by what years they came out in-between, and those era's have different titles. The original 15 movies are called the "Showa" series, as they came out during the Showa period for Japan. The following 7 films were called the "Heisei" series (I'm not sure if this name comes from an actual period's name or is exclusive for this movie franchise, or what, having not heard it elsewhere before). So I'm sure the title doesn't transfer and fit completely, but maybe this new movie could be considered a 'Heisei' era film for the DB franchise? Just a thought that ran through my head anyway.

Re: Episode #0317 (09 December 2012)
It's an interesting idea, except that all the Dragon Ball Z films are Heisei-era films. (Only the first three Dragon Ball movies are Shōwa-era, as Emperor Hirohito died at the beginning of 1989.) I suppose if Emperor Akihito dies within the next few months, we could still have a new era-name for this "new generation" theatrical release....

As morbid as it sounds, I think Toho and the Gojira producers would be hyped. O.oSaiyaJedi wrote:It's an interesting idea, except that all the Dragon Ball Z films are Heisei-era films.
