Have they really added TFS-homage lines in the actual Buu Kai dub (and Super?)?
Not really. The first half of Kai, they did every so often, but not a lot, but all the Buu Saga had was the 2-minute scene that was supposed to guest star them. Super doesn't have any as far as I can see.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

Was TFS a thing when First Half Kai aired?

This forum is so over-dramatic that it's not even funny.

TFS released their first episode around that time Kai debuted.

As far as I'm concerned any TFS line put into a non parody official dub is wrong.

What makes that any better than this? :P
Or this?

Or, dare I say... This?

I'm definitely too harsh on Funimation in general, but you can't deny they put a lot of unnecessary liberties in their dub scripts. TFS meme lines are no different from "Totally pwn'd", "Get the smelling salts, Krillin!", or anything else of that ilk.

Having said that, one plus side to all this is that Funimation's Final Chapters dub essentially confirms that the Boo arc takes place in 2007. ;)
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.

Already changed those lines.

Actually, they started in 2008. According to its wiki, it started June 6, 2008, while Kai premiered in Japan on April 5, 2009. By the time Kai premiered, they were almost done with season 1. In fact, they were 1 episode (that was 3 parts) away from finishing Season 1.

I see. Although, if I remember correctly, it took forever for episode 2 to be released. Episode 1 existed for a long time as a standalone.

The wiki says they uploaded it a little over a month after episode 1.

Why has this thread turned into a dbz abridged thread?

Looking back on videos of Drummond doing Vegeta's voice at cons, I've noticed that his voice sounds way deeper than in the Saban and Westwood dubs and even in his clip of Copy Vegeta, so he'll probably sound like that in Kai.

Merry belated Christmas, fingers crossed for good news in 2018.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

Was the hate for Kai largely unjustified?

The story of Kai's production is far more interesting than the actual product.

Saffron Henderson turned 50 today. That's the only news I can give regarding anything about Ocean stuff.

So, I wonder how much Drummond's slightly different portrayal of Vegeta in Funimation's Super dub was influenced by just how he plays the part these days(And thus, how he'll sound in Ocean Kai), and how much was down to the way he was directed by Sabat.
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.
