Super also contradicts the main story and I still consider as part of the canon though some may not.Bergamo wrote:I'm just saying, why be willfully ignorant of the fact that many toei products contradict the main story.

The main story contradicts itself from time to time, but there is literally no time frame in which Lord Slug, Cooler, Turles, and many of the other villains could have even appeared.jeffbr92 wrote:Super also contradicts the main story and I still consider as part of the canon though some may not.Bergamo wrote:I'm just saying, why be willfully ignorant of the fact that many toei products contradict the main story.

No, but you can consider them stupid for not being able to properly link togheter a non conflicting continuity, and realizing what fits and what doesn't.jeffbr92 wrote:So? When is the next chapter coming out?
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
It comes out the same time it does every month. Leaks should be coming out in 4 or 5 days though.SaiyanGod117 wrote:When is the next chapter coming out?

Toriyama has done that tho. Only what he claims as DB is what matters. As he is the authority [canon]. He has stated that GT is a "side story" and the movies are "in another dimension" since he was solely an audience member to them plot wise. Finally, Dragonball" is the manga and anime" and Super is a "complete continuation" of Dragonball.jeffbr92 wrote:Exactly, everyone can have their personal canon, until someday (probably never) Toei/Toriyama declares what really counts to DB official continuity.

Are you putting that in quote because of some Toriyama's "claims"? Because if so, I have never seen him saying that "Dragon Ball is the manga and anime".
And Dragon Ball Online "takes place after the manga".Miracles wrote:and Super is a "complete continuation" of Dragonball.

And Super is during the DB manga before the final tournament.Grimlock wrote:Miracles wrote:Finally, Dragonball" is the manga and anime"

And Toriyama stating DB being the anime and manga is from Daizenshuu's 7 "The Anime and Me" from Toriyama.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Found it. I don't know what weight those words could possibly have these days. Dragon Ball has certainly grown more than just being "anime and manga".
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
None of these are official statements, I would like Toei or Toriyama to finally come up with a canon for the series, but it's their choice to keep this way, so I'm fine with it.Miracles wrote:Toriyama has done that tho. These statements were made in official interviews and answered by Toriyama himself about his story.jeffbr92 wrote:None of these are official statements, I would like Toei or Toriyama to finally come up with a canon for the series, but it's their choice to keep this way, so I'm fine with it.Miracles wrote:Toriyama has done that tho. My statement goes both ways. People are angry when stuff isn't canon, and some people are too eager to go "it's non-canon so who cares?"
Just enjoy Dragonball how you wanna enjoy Dragonball, man. That's why this media franchise is so vast.

You saw Batman v Superman? Is it the Ultimate Edition? No? Then you haven't seen Batman v Superman. Also, the Snyder Cut is the greatest, non-deconstructionist ensemble comic book film ever made.

"What is your personal stance on Dragon Ball’s theatrical films, Sensei?
I take the movies as “stories in a different dimension from the main story of the comic”. I’m entirely just an audience member for them."

"Side Story" does NOT equals "not canon"Miracles wrote:He has stated that GT is a "side story"
For example: "Mobile Suit Gundam: 08th MS Team" is a side story of "Mobile Suit Gundam". It's also 100% canon.

It does in this case, GT literally can't happen, just let it goankokudaishogun wrote:"Side Story" does NOT equals "not canon"Miracles wrote:He has stated that GT is a "side story"

Brochacho, I'm all for embracing all forms of Dragonball media, but don't cry foul when people tell you something doesn't work within the timeline of events from the original story.ankokudaishogun wrote:"Side Story" does NOT equals "not canon"Miracles wrote:He has stated that GT is a "side story"

Again, when I say people get too caught up on what's canon or not, it applies to both sides. If you enjoy the "side stories" what do you care if they're canon or not? Does being non-canon make them worse or diminish them in your eyes?
Just enjoy what you enjoy, my dude.
