I'd hate it if they were restricted on dubbing the movie while the dub catches up. But given OP is a Toei property I feel less worried about that.
Yeah, I wouldn't worry about their ability to dub a movie that's farther ahead story wise. They jump light-years ahead in story for the One Piece movies.

I'm more concerned about the time frame in which we get it. Resurrection F dubbed came out 4 months after the sub, and that was considered to be well coordinated on both Toei and Funimation's parts. Then came Super, and we all know how long it took to settle the dubbing rights for that. Which didn't make any sense at the time (does it even now actually?) because of how quickly Funimation was allowed to do Res-F.

So I'm slightly concerned that Toei will find some reason to forestall the inevitable Funi release, and potentially keep us from an English version for far longer than 4 months. The good news is that Funi doesn't have to debate about finding a kids channel to air the movie, unlike with Super, so there technically shouldn't be any snags, but you never know with Toei.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Well, it all depends on how they're recording the TOP arc. We can all fairly assume that they've completely dubbed the Future Trunks Arc & are most likely in preproduction on the TOP arc dub, with a possibility of the mainstay actors & actresses starting to record the arc, maybe, while Sabat auditions people for the new characters. With the majority of the One Piece movies, they don't have to deal with a TV schedule prioritizing the show over the movies to be dubbed. Even when the show came back to Toonami, they started at episode 207, so there was no way they'd catch up to the episodes on DVD. Super's different since they have to have a TV deal, since Toei doesn't get how society has progressed since the mid-2000s. Funny thing, the main reason they gave One Piece to 4Kids, even though FUNi also did a test dub for them, was because they wanted to give it to a company who could get a TV deal over give them a quality dub. I really don't get why this should be a thing within dubbing contracts, since it's not really conducive to a good dub. But yeah, early next year is the earliest for the dub is what I'd expect.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

I really hate how the Super dub has backslid from the quality of the Kai dub.

Have you watched Buu Kai or BoG/F movie dubs? As this dub is more or less in line with those to be fair. It's given the dub a separate but similar flavour which imo is a good thing.

I really don't see why people say the dub took a dive in quality from Kai. It's very in-line with it, actually. I think it's Super's overall quality people have a problem with. The dub is just giving us a translation of the Japanese script in English aas FUNimation does.

Also, found the episode 55 trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFmUfgx ... e=youtu.be.
Someone posted it as a response to FUNi's new Twitter clip post for the "Kaioken times 10" scene.

Huh. Wonder why such a weird substitution for "priest," considering they have no problems with religions in FUNi's acquisitions or dubs.

Might have been a lip flap thing with Daishinkan being 3 syllables and Grand Priest only two.

Pretty low key performance tbh barely recognised him. Good stuff.

Curious who Roberts will play now.

Well guys, next week, this is it. The make it or break it episode, at least, for the dub. Episode 56. The debut of Super Saiyan Rosé. Will Sean Schemmel impress people with his new Rosé voice, or will this be the thing that will turn off everyone? Stay tuned and find out next week on Dragon Dub Super! (At least, this isn't over yet)

Grand Minister is weird. I don't get the lip flap reasoning either since the dub already works around so many different lip flaps, Sai-ya-jin to Sai-yan. Kai-o-sama to King Kai. If anything I would have preferred Supreme Priest or some other way of keeping the priest part of his name. Josh Grelle sounds like great casting though.
