Looks like the ratings went up for Frieza's return. It even beat Kai in the 18-49 slot.

Well people have been waiting a long time for Jack to get closure. With Super we have subs already so the hardcore US fans have slightly less incentive to immediately watch.

With Buu Kai we may have seen the arc but it wasnt as recently as many of us watched Super so I'm not shocked it pulls well or poorly on a given weekend.
It has more to do with Super being aired twice, so people have less reason to stay up to watched the 11;30 airing.
Yeah thats a big part of it too. Nice add on to what I said.

Thats good. I was just talking about Jack vs Super in general as there seems to be a lot of ratings debate around.

If you didnt mean me apologies.

I agree that Samurai Jack absolutely murdered DBS but we have to remember than most of the hardcore DBS fans outside Japan have already watched the subbed episodes of Super, and a lot of casuals have done the same. Many are skipping the first two arcs entirely because of movie retelling. Unlike the 90s and 00s we can watch the Japanese episodes on the same day broadcasted on TV, thanks to internet. I personally am caught up with current Super episodes and have no interest to watch the dubs every week, despite liking the dub million times better.
Toyotarō: … I get the feeling I’ve just heard something amazing (laughs). Lord Beerus and Whis turn up in Dragon Ball Super, and have become an unsurpassable wall for Goku and the gang. What do the two of them mean to you?

Toriyama: Well… First off, right now I don’t have any plans for Goku and Vegeta to surpass Beerus and Whis.

No Toonami ratings as a Samurai Jack marathon was on Saturday, so Super and Kai didn't air on Toonami last week.

I literally only watch the Dub for Seans Goku because of all your reasons above. Good post.

The Jack thing is not comparable at all, it was 10 episodes vs a long running series where there is no end in site and of a retelling that has already been released domestically. 10 episodes requires a lot less investment from an audience's perspective.

Family Guy needs to come back ASAP. I hate it and I dont watch it but it seems like Samurai Jack isnt much of a draw now.

Why would it be a draw? The show has ended. It boggles my mind why they are still putting it on the block. It's dragging down everything.

I don't see how that's possible. For the past two weeks the dip in ratings has been the slot between Jack and DBZ Buu kai. If anything it's keeping them a float.

No Toonami ratings as a Samurai Jack marathon was on Saturday, so Super and Kai didn't air on Toonami last week.
I know this was a holiday, but hopefully this will quiet the discussion on how having one showing automatically means the entirety of the audience will transfer to the other showing.
That's just not how it works and different timeslots are for different demographics. Right now Super has the best possible coverage by having multiple shows.

Good ratings all around and Freeze going ham on Gohan helped Super beat Kai in the 18-49 group.
