Friday looks to have done about ¥12 million ($110,000) for around ¥3.45 billion ($31 million).

Yeah the movie debuted at #1 in Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay and Paraguay.

I'm told those ticket sales are particularly impressive in Argentina. It's actually a hair in front of The Incredibles 2 and is one of biggest opening days for a movie there ever, like the Top 15 or so. It's over five times as high as the Spider-Man movie.

It's also twice as many as what Resurrection F sold in the first day which was 52,000.

Bits and pieces of news is coming out here and there so I'll list all I've heard.

In Brazil the movie has sold 760,000 tickets in 8 days which should be about $3 million. Resurrection F sold 332,000 tickets and made $1.2 million in its entire run.

In Argentina the movie sold 109,000 tickets on opening day. It's in the Top 15 highest openings ever. It's also over double the ticket sales of Resurrection F's opening day.

In Peru it's had the second best opening day ever only behind Infinity War. It sold 250,000 tickets in 1 day where Resurrection sold 223,000 tickets in 5 days.

In Chile it sold 92,000 tickets on opening day. Battle of Gods and Resurrection F sold 100,000 tickets in 4 days.

By Sunday the movie will be comfortably over $40 million. It could potentially be over $45 million even.

It’ll be interesting to see how this performs in the U.S. with its limited release. I want it to beat out Ressurection ‘F’ if for no reason other than that I really dislike that film.

This movie will definitely surpass RoF in North America.

The Pre-Weekend estimate is that Broly will make ¥100 million ($920,000) for a total of ¥3.55 billion ($32 million). That doesn't include the holiday Monday.

In Bolivia, the movie made the opening day record for an animated movie. According to some marketing manager it made in one day what he expected in four days.

It also made eight times more on opening day than Resurrection F. I don't know if it means eight times more than Resurrection F's opening day or just it's total but either way in one day it says it's the highest grossing Dragon Ball movie there.

It also made some record in Paraguay but I don't know which in particular.

No it's the only market I haven't heard a peep from and that's surely going to be it's biggest market this week.

Broly appears to have done around ¥45 million ($415,000) on Saturday. That's down 49% from last Saturday. Sunday went down last week but it should increase a decent bit this week so the ¥100 million estimate from earlier seems about right so far.

Not too much other significant information to give but there's a couple things.

In Argentina it's sold about 196,000 tickets in 2 days. Resurrection F did 450,000 tickets in its whole run so Broly might not be too far off come Sunday actually.

It opened to #1 in Puerto Rico, again made some record but I don't know what.

Alright now we've got something. It made M$44.9 million ($2.35 million) on opening day Thursday.

In comparison Resurrection F made M$52.4 million ($3.4 million) across the Friday to Sunday weekend. It made about M$93 million in total.

So yet another market where Broly has far surpassed how the previous movies opened. O expect this to be over $45 million when they update it tomorrow.

It should be noted that in Argentina the marketing was pretty much non existent, no movie posters on the streets until the very opening day, and even some theaters didn't even had movie posters on the theaters themselves! no merchandising either. If you were not a fan, you'd have no idea the movie was being shown, even if you were at the multiplex at the right day and hour.

The movie had a very good Sunday increase thanks to the holiday weekend, looks to have made about ¥67 million for a total of ¥3.56 billion ($32 million).

More importantly though is that the Worldwide estimates will come out again today, few hours time perhaps. It's difficult to make a prediction when it sopenimg in a number of countries but I'm going to go with....$46-48 million.

So there's a good chance it'll cross ¥3.6 billion tomorrow right?

Yes and more so if these actuals go up which they have every time so far. Last weekend it should have done around ¥155 million but it did ¥167 million. This week it should be ¥112 million but you never know, the average ticket price changes all the time.

But now I've probably jinxed it and it'll go down.

Unbelievable...

https://mobile.twitter.com/BORReport/st ... 6041030657

"Dragon Ball Super: Broly grossed an estimated $20.0M internationally this weekend, including a $6.5M debut in Mexico. International total stands at $54.3M."

I was not expecting it to be anywhere close to that high. That debut in Mexico alone is more than Resurrection F made in its entirety.

That's probably $19 million for the weekend in Latin America. Resurrection F didn't make that much in Latin America in its entirety either.

So it's already outgrossed Battle of Gods and it hasn't even come out in America or Europe yet either.

Not surprised DBS Broly made a huge splash in Latin America. Dragon Ball has a cult like following in South American countries.

Now that is impressive! Going to be interesting to see where it's gross stands at the end of next week.

I’m super happy to read this.
I estimated Broly to make more than 100 millions, so I’m looking forward to seeing how well it does in the US and in Europe.
It’s such a shame they couldn’t release it simultaneously in the biggest markets on the 14th of December, as it would have done even better.

The more I read about how well the movie is doing in Latin America, the more I kind of wish it would’ve gotten a major release in the U.S.

Well it doesn't seem to be quite at that level yet but it has heavily expanded with each movie.

Battle of Gods they advertised as being in about 800 theatres across four specific days. Resurrection F they advertised as being in 1,000 theatres across a nine day period.

I don't know what Broly's theatre count is but they haven't mentioned any specific dates this time, they're just saying it's from the 16th so if anyone knows anything let me know but I assume it's getting more theatres, days and showings this time around.

A quick look at a Regal Theatre in New York shows that the movie is at least being shown for 9 days with 5 showing a day.

As long as it can perform in relation to the expansion they're giving it then maybe the next movie could get a wide release. They'll only keep expanding it if it continues to exceed expectations.
