I really love these designs, they're fantastic! I'd be interested in how you would change Vegeta's expressions when he does his face-heel turn later on, as right now he looks pretty villainous. Awesome job regardless!

Scarz, your Vegeta kinda looks like Sinestro from Green Lantern in that battle pic, which might be just me but it's still pretty cool. While your style is similar to the whole Timmverse, you've clearly put your own special touch. I also really like your Goku and Bulma too, I can see your Goku at the Watchtower asking who does he get to fight or brawling with Kalibak.

Do you mean the style in which the characters are drawn (the sort of Bruce Timm look) or just the idea of a western style DB itself?
Both. But I'm not saying it's bad. I'm just saying I personally don't think it fits Dragonball. Makes it look cartoonish and like a parody.
I meant to respond to this a while ago but forgot to. I hope this doesn't sound like a cop-out but that's almost the whole point of this project. To change the characters into a "what-if DB was a western cartoon" style but taking it to the extreme. Which is why I chose the very cartoonish, Bruce Timm approach of art (since that seems to be the norm for western cartoon these days).

I've been wanting to play around with Vegeta facial expression a little more. I know I gave him a pretty villainous look because my mind was solely on the Saiyan Arc evil Vegeta. I didn't think about the later arcs where he turned an almost complete 180 into a good guy.

Your version of Vegeta looks really deranged and psychotic. Which I like, because my head canon of Vegeta is that he is.

And a super heroic reboot of Goku fits if it's a Western reboot, because you're filtering it through Western culture and this is how he'd be imagined if we came up with him, I think.

You know, I have to admit I really want to color your cell, or even try my own version of this style.

So bloody awesome. :P

I'd love to see an alternate reality where a storyline like this is played out.

I found this while browsing DeviantArt: Dragon Ball drawn in the style of Rob Liefeld.

These recent images are a thing a beauty! I especially love the Rob Liefeld one because it really hits ever thing that was wrong with EXTREME 90's comic.

Since we're on the topic, Golden Age Comic Dragon ball!

Scarz, do you imitate any particular western artist when you do these, or are you going for a generalized western style

Mostly a Bruce Timm style.

Really? Wouldn't have guessed that. The legs seem a bit too large proportionally. Timm realy liked Top-heavy guys

Heh, at least that was what I was trying to go for. Ended up being my own style (somewhat) anyway.
