I can put out a release this week -- I've just been double checking some episode syncs to make sure everything's kosher. That won't hold me back from releasing, and maybe putting it out will help me find some bugs once people start using it. :)

Awesome! I'll definitely be bug testing by default since I'll be syncing probably every audio option you have listed and more lol.

No, why would it? It's fiction. The strength of the characters is not possible to reach in reality.
I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Since I've already got the Funimation Dragonbox sets I'l probably pass on Z but this has got me super excited for everything else. Probably the closest we'll ever get to subbed releases of the other 3 box sets.

You'll include the source of the exe, right?

What language was the exe programmed in?

Still working on it. I've just finished getting the demux parameters for the movie discs and I'm now working on the multiplexing code. I'll probably release a 'beta' version soon after I'm finished with that, even though there are some known issues with select episodes that I'll need to work around.

The source is and will always be available at the project's Github page. It's written entirely in Python 3.

Which episodes have issues? Why would it not surprise me if these issues involve the Pioneer Movies, the Funi Singles, and the earliest Orange Bricks?

The Dragon Box assets themselves have the following issues:

Dragon Ball #26 - second half encoded interlaced, flagged progressive
Dragon Ball #41 - second half encoded interlaced, flagged progressive
Dragon Ball #138 - audio is delayed because of authoring error
Dragon Ball Z #24 - first half encoded interlaced, flagged progressive

In order for these to play properly once demuxed and remuxed to MKV, there needs to be some extra processing done that I have not programmed yet.

Fixing the audio for #138 is fairly trivial, but for the three which are half-interlaced, the MPEG2 interlaced flag needs to be properly set. The program I use to do this (ReStream) has no command-line interface to my knowledge, so if I can't find something to do it, I will have to recommend that users set it manually using the ReStream GUI. I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Intersting...

Out of curiosity, is the first half of the Funi Dragon Box Z ep 24 also encoded interlaced and flagged progressive?

Nope, it's a goof unique to the Japanese release.

Pardon the double post, but I wanted to bump the thread to let everyone know that it's nearly ready for an initial release. Support for the Pioneer discs still needs to be added, but the issues with the DBox I mentioned above have been accounted for. After adding a little more logging and testing a few more things, it should be all set.

Really looking forward to this :D

Probably should prepare for the release by ripping my Dragon Ball and GT Dboxes!

Post by Danfun64 » Mon Oct 10, 2016 10:15 pm

"Appule?!? You named Appule as the person who's name reflects 1.0?"

In all seriousness, how does one compile or otherwise run the contents of the source code? You didn't leave any instructions on that subject.

^^ Download the first zip from https://github.com/gravitypriest/dragon ... /tag/1.0.0. It has a pre-compiled .exe that will run on Windows.

"Appule" because it was the first thing I thought of for "A". :D

I see you didn't get the Abridged reference?

Also, you didn't answer my question at all. I already know about that binary, but you never explained what to do with the source code if someone wanted to compile Dragon Radar for themselves.

Oh, in that case, you will want to install Python 3.3, then use pip to install the required colorama and py2exe modules, then from the repo directory run:

Code: Select all

python setup.py py2exe
It will create a /dist folder with the .exe and everything in it.

In the git repository, You should either mention that in the README file, or create a COMPILE file and mention it there. Considering how short those instructions are, I recommend putting them in the README file.

Question: Would the subs from the original R1 Dragon Ball DVDs be compatible with this? I never ended up picking up the blue boxes since I owned most of the series via these discs:

Thanks! :D

Not at the moment. Currently only the brick sets are supported. I would like to support them in the future, but they are not as straightforward to demux and sync as the newer DVDs. Plus, I don't have them so I can't collect the data from them.

In the near future I want to make a guide, for people to be able to get the data (demux info and offsets) for those discs themselves and contribute to the project.
