So I was made aware of a deviantart user who posted a series of Dragon Ball parodies called "Dragon Ball - Plot Hole Doctorate" a while back.
I wanted to follow in his footsteps and have a crack at discussing the inconsistent (and arguably) story breaking writing at certain points in the DBZ series.
I know this has probably been discussed to hell and back over the years, but with the influx of new Dragon Ball content, there's probably quite a few people here who are catching up with the original series.
With that in mind, I hope to promote some discussion on various plot points in the DBZ series by typesetting some logic into the official pages.
Please bear in mind that I have quite a sarcastic sense of humor, so while this series does serve to get you thinking, it may also get quite absurd in places as I try to rationalize things with my own head canon.

I don't see the plot hole. Trunks wanted to go back and make sure the other would know that the future was safe and he had to make sure to not change the time settings, otherwise he could appear in a different time.

And therein lies the plothole. The settings were changed, because Cell ended up 4 years in the past before the androids first attacked (instead of being in line with Trunks' time in that timeline).
This caused a new timeline to be created (the main one we're all familiar with). Cell by his own admission says that he didn't change the settings, so Trunks must have, but why? There's only one potential explanation, but it doesn't make sense in the context of the story because the second Future Trunks succeeded in his mission. He had no reason to change the settings, causing the entire Cell saga to only be possible due to author oversight.
