They aren't. And the one with, I think Goku? in bed, is a homage to the Skyrim meme, "I was an adventurer like you, until I took an arrow in the knee."

You mean the part about Chi-Chi marrying someone who knew how to drive, and would bring up brilliant scientists?

They're referencing the driving eoisode filler where Chi-chi makes Goku take a driving test, and one of the dub's weirder lines where Vegeta says Goku's dad was a brilliant scientist who invented the power ball technique to turn into an Oozaru.

Most of the special's humour is memes and references.

This anniversary special would have been a lot more palatable if it was just released alongside a regular chapter. Honestly, it would have been better if they just planned it well and didn’t have it occur a few pages into an actual chapter, halting the story in its tracks.

These last few pages are like advanced level French humor. It may make no sense to anyone not French but all we can do is greet it with cries of hate.
