I'd like to see the original DB done, even if it's super-abridged like Kai, so the saga can be introduced to new viewers.

Would Toei even care as much about copyright for the original DB these days?

I read that they intend to do that but as movie format.

It's not so much that they're going to do it, but Kaiser discussed during one of their gaming livestreams a while ago that he wants to do the DB storyline as several movies rather than episodes. I could see that working, considering how much filler is probably in the series that could be excised. They could probably do it in 1-2 movies each, depending on how much they keep in from the show. I bet Masako would love to do that too. Maybe they could remaster the first season as well while they're at it to be a lot better than it turned out.
I actually wouldn't mind the Buu Saga being done as several movies either, considering there's stuff that Kai cut out from the original series & probably even more to make it flow better for an abridged series. I mean, after the Tournament (which, not hearing Kirran as the announcer like he's set up to be would be a great shame), the storyline's basically on the move, so they could probably do 3 movies or so out of the saga, depending on lengths, like if they're 1.5-2 hours or so. The early stuff to the end of Majin Vegeta, the fusion stuff, then the Kid Buu stuff, depending on how they play it. It would take some stress off, I'd bet, & allow for a more easy schedule for them. Release a movie every 4-6 months & I think they'd be ok. Have the actual Z movies in between & they'd have more than enough content to satisfy viewers.
Brikikoz wrote:Would Toei even care as much about copyright for the original DB these days?
Most likely, yeah. Even though they seem to care more about what came after, since it's what makes the most money out of everything in the franchise, I bet they'd still care about them using the footage in a parody like they do Z, if only to spite them.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

I wouldn't be surprised if they release it on April 1st.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Basically like Kingdom Hearts 3, expect it later rather than sooner.
Hope you guys continue passed it though, even if you tell us that you need a break from it. That'd be a lot better than just ending it prematurely altogether.

Told us what? All I've heard is Kaiser saying on Twitter that they might end the series after episode 60, but nothing definitive yet. As far as we know, they're still moving forward with the Buu Saga & the next several movies since they've been talking about doing the next arc for years now in the livestreas, but plans can change, as most of us probably know from life experiences, so I just wanna throw out suggestions on alternatives for ending the show.

These were just rumours, they have a video on their YouTube channel explaining why the hiatus. Kaiser said on Twitter they are putting all their effort on #60 not because is the series finale, but the season finale.

Yeah, that's what I'm aware of at least, though Kaiser HAS said "might" in terms of ending the series after this next one. As far as we know though, they haven't made a decision on ending the series yet, so there's no reason to say that's what's happening. The next episode, as far as we know, is just the finale to season 3. They still have plans for the Buu Saga as far as we know, so I'm just offering Kaiser other options than just outright ending the series prematurely if that's seriously being considered, not that I know if he takes any of this into consideration.

If episode 60 truly is the end, DBZA has had a damn good run, and I'm sure episode 60 will be an explosive and worthy finalé. And, as they say, "Always leave 'em wanting more."

I will be a little sad if this is theend, and do hope TFS do more DBZ Abridged content of some sort if this is the end of the main series; a DBZA movie or special every year or so would be delightful.
But, if this does have to be the true and final ending, then, as I say... I'm sure it will be a worthy finalé, and I look forward to it. :)

Maybe it's time to look at a kickstarter for each episode.

It'd work.

They already have a Patreon NOT linked to the series. Let's keep it at that.

I think one of the saddest thing for me if episode 60 really is the end (other than losing content I like and the fact that those making it clearly still like it and it would suck for them to be unable to continue to do so), is that DBZA would be another Abridging series that doesn't get to actually fully finish the series it's working with. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a single one that's ever actually accomplished that. It'd be great to see DBZA be the one to pull it off, but we'll know soon enough I imagine.

Well, there's Space Dandy Abridged, but other than that, yeah, most of them stop part way through for whatever reason. I think it's kind of weird that Yugioh Abridged, the first Abridged series, is gonna finish, but DBZA isn't. Then again, apparently no one on the Japanese side really hates LK's series as much as Toei hates TFS, it seems.

You don't even have to look at an abridged series, a lot of official series don't get finished or take a very long time to such as Kai's Buu arc which took 3 years and Batman Beyond which never got finished.

The Buu Saga of Kai was always in the cards, though. As soon as it was announced back in 2013/14, it was known it was made for the international crowds over the Japanese crowd from day 1. It's airing & release, however, were delayed because of the first 98 episodes airing on Toonami taking almost 2 years, due to it being 98 episodes. The actors even commented on how the dub was done for a while at that point, but it didn't come out because of Toei's arbitrary policy of getting DB on TV too dub & release it, which doesn't make any sense because Kai's the same material as Z, just with a better dub, different music, & the majority of the filler excised. DBZA was always planned to get to at least the end of Cell, with talks on their gaming channel of doing Buu, but they seem to have a "one thing at a time" mentality, which I get, but it DOES seem weird on their parts.
