I think MasakoX does a good job voicing both Goku and Kid Gohan and he has improved over time.

What I mean is that, even though it's a high-pitched voice, you can still tell it's a man's voice. It's kind of a Rob Paulson situation here.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

So what? Goku is a male after all and Nozawa don't make him sound feminine IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I think he does a fantastic job too. Masako is the man and I love watching all of his YouTube videos, but I just felt the high pitched voice he uses now makes Goku seem even dumber in an abridged series that already capitalizes on the character's stupidity, whereas the somewhat deeper voice (not much deeper, but a noticeable difference, it's more like his normal speaking voice) he used in the beginning of the series helps balance those aspects out a bit. Of course the jokes will always make him out to act like a child, but I thought the slightly deeper voice helped make him more of a manchild instead of just a regular child. :D

Yet I can still tell it's a woman voicing him when I watch clips from the sub. And, yeah, she kind of does because all she does is deepen her voice a bit for him from her natural speaking voice. That's it. The scripts & her inflections do the rest, which is fine, but I can still tell it's her. I could say the same about Maile Flannigan as Naruto, but she sounds more like a young man than Nozawa does.

I get what you're saying, but the show regularly shows their version of Goku as a flanderized version of his canon portrayal (though not TOO far removed from it, considering how SUPER'S writing his characterization), so the voice fits. The only change that i've noticed in his Goku voice is that his acting's improved a LOT. It definitely got slightly more high-pitched, but it's far from a complete shift in voice tone. I actually kind of like it better now than how it was, honestly.

Anyone else prefer MasakoX's Goku from the much earlier episodes? I feel like he's way too high pitched now, and he was closer to being an English version of Nozawa.
I kinda get what you mean. His early voice is nice. Its still nice now but its more higher energy now I guess?
It's basically a wacky cartoon voice that only works for a parody, Nozawa is fully capable of sounding intimidating when she needs to.

^Perfect example of why the voice doesn't work when trying to be serious or intimidating. "You can't beat me anymore" sounded like an annoyed Spongebob.

Yeah, that's my main problem with it and sort of what I was trying to say. When the abridged version has its serious moments with characters, they sound serious. With the high pitched wacky Goku voice it's hard to convey the same seriousness as the other characters. For example, I dunno if MasakoX's current Goku voice is able to convey the same sort of seriousness as this example from Episode 2: https://youtu.be/35EmqsFJf-M?t=322

What helps with Nozawa's switch between serious Goku and cheerful Goku isn't just that she lowers her pitch, but that when her Goku is serious he drops that lilt that's in his voice under happier conditions. MasakoX's Goku doesn't have that lilt at all.

But without being fluent in Japanese I can't tell which parts of a sentence Nozawa typically places that lilt on to know where they would be in English.

What's the example you're referring to here? He sounds goofy in all of those. Also, I edited my last post to show an example from Episode 2 where I think Masako does a good job of a serious Goku voice.

Yes, that's another good point, there's not too much of a pitch change when Masako's Goku gets serious.

You must be joking if you think his Black even comes close to Nozawas, that sounds like a schoolyard bully.

Edit: Agreed with above, I'd like to see what he could do with his Goku voice if could inflect the pitch better.

So Kaiser, question about DBCember: Did you guys seriously play all the Dragonball games to make this list?

I forgot they were making a gaming list... Dear god.

Probably. I mean, most of the DB games they've played on their gaming channel, they've said they've played before (except for the newer ones they get on release) & they talk about some of the other games that they've played before they've played them during them, so they most likely have.

There was one bit where Masako managed to do serious Son. IIrc he told Cell “Cell, your gonna die” when he saved Ten and Piccolo.

Edit: yeah

Yamcha almost certainly did not cheat on Bulma:
He was afraid of Women, Bulma was the flirty one.
Yamcha wanted to get married (it was his gonna be his wish)
He suggested they settle down in the Trunks saga.
Alternate future Trunks is not a reliable source.
Toriyama wanted new SSJ Kids and not make new characters.

That's, basically, why I brought up the Goku Black clips. It's a bit hammy, but I do think that that voice IS his take on a more serious version of his Goku voice.

I look forward to seeing the top 12 video games starting on the 13th. I'm gonna call a big upset now and predict that DB Fusions will be in the top 3.

But I saw a YouTube comment on the 24-13 video that said "The order of this list is really confusing. The reasoning for each seems all over the place." and I've got to agree. The order didn't really make much sense and a lot of the reasons as to why the game was on the list were either vague and confusing or sometimes barely even existent. For example, it seems the only reason why they included Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans was because of Hatchiyack, they didn't even comment on whether or not the game is good. Why is Sagas #16? They pretty much shit on it saying it's a terrible game that's only somewhat funny with friends, so why is it higher than the likes of Legendary Super Warriors, Super Butoden, Zenkai Battle, and Extreme Butoden?

Eh, felt more like a comedic serious to me.

A big upset? I know I thought Fusions was a rather below average game, but I wouldn't be pissed that it gets up that high.

Also; wanna bet Xenoverse doesn't even make the top ten?

I still don't know how people call Super Butoden 2 a good game. It's barely playable garbage.
