Dragonball stuff on regular television
Right now the comedian Bill Bailey is wairing a Dragonball shirt on the latest episode of QI on BBC 1.
If your quick you can see the last 15 minutes.
Has anyone seen anything Dragonball related on regular TV that perhaps has nothing to do with anime whatsoever.

Re: Dragonball stuff on regular television
There was a poster in the background on something with Frankie Munez (sp?) in it. I'm not sure if it was Malcolm in the Middle, it may have been Big Fat Liar or another one of his movies...
The kid on Two and a Half Men mentioned wanting to get "the new Dragonball Z game" but nothing of the series was actually shown, I think.
I don't recall anything else, at least offhand.

Can't you see? He's the man. Let me hear you applaud. He's more than a man! He's a shiny golden god!

I remember this movie that I watched. It's about two kids with their stepparents and the sister tried to woke up her brother, So she can escape the house with him and she said something along the lines of "Blockbuster is now giving Dragon Ball Z for free" and then her brother slowly replied "Really?" or something like that line. I didn't know the name of the movie.

In the movie "The 40 Year Old Virgin" the main character as a Dragon Ball GT action figure on his shelf. I can't tell who the character inside the packaging is, all I can see is the GT logo.
In the movie "Are We There Yet?" the main character works at a comic book store and some kid comes in and ask him if he has any Dragon Ball GT stuff and he replied "No!".

So awesome!
And, yeah, I remember Two and A Half Men where Jake wanted the "New DBZ game"

That's so cool! I wonder where he bought it.

It was Agent: Cody Banks. I saw the Dragon Ball poster so I always remembered the name just in case I wanted to see that DBZ poster.nathantheguitarist wrote:There was a poster in the background on something with Frankie Munez (sp?) in it. I mention QI a lot in the DaizEX chatroom all the time, and order people to watch it! Have you watched it yet?!
Also, Bill Bailey is more awesome than ever.

I was thinking it'd be an awesome in-joke if he said it because GT was anime-only and looked down upon, but I know the movie's not that cool.Codarik wrote:In the movie "The 40 Year Old Virgin" the main character as a Dragon Ball GT action figure on his shelf. In season 7 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the character Andrew makes a comment about Dragon Ball Z at one point, with a bizarre comment where he claims that Vegeta "used to be a pure Saiyan" before fighting on the side of Goku. I mean, since when did Vegeta ever stop being a pure Saiyan?

Not on U.S. TV but in the homeland of Japan, the show "Gaki No Tsukai" does things called "Batsu Games" and one of them are the No Laughing series, where if the comedians laugh during the game, they get hit in the backside. The Police series had a staged crazy guy on the roof, and as the comedians watched, the guy started singing "Makafushigi Adventure". It was hilarious.

I think Tom Dubois of "The Boondocks" said it best for me when FUNimation announced the release of the domestic Dragonbox, after buying all of the Season Sets: "MOTHERFUCK!!! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, PRICKS, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIIIIIIIT!"

Was it on his shelf? I never noticed it there, but I did notice it on his bed when he was packaging all his toys. I'm pretty sure it was SSJ4 Goku.Codarik wrote:In the movie "The 40 Year Old Virgin" the main character as a Dragon Ball GT action figure on his shelf. In one of the first scenes of War of the Worlds (2005), you can see a figure of Pilaf.
Justin Chatwin starred in that movie... foreshadowing, I tell ya.

Yeah, you are right, I haven't seen the movie in a while, so I went and watched it again, it is indeed on his bed.

Re: Dragonball stuff on regular television
I remember in an episode of MXC (or for those looking for the pure Nippon truth, Takashi's Castle) there was a woman who cosplayed as Goku running through maybe the bolder challenge, mascot maze, or the catch the ball trap? I don't believe Guy interviewed her, nor do I remember her doing well...

Buffy had Marsters as Spike, who'd be Piccolo in DBE, and then Bura kind of spelt that one out...SaiyamanMS wrote:In season 7 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the character Andrew makes a comment about Dragon Ball Z at one point, with a bizarre comment where he claims that Vegeta "used to be a pure Saiyan" before fighting on the side of Goku. "I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.
