Does anyone know if these DVDs from Anime Kingdom in Chile use the original broadcast footage or not?

Was the hate for Kai largely unjustified?
Super Saiyan Prime wrote:It's an edited, cynically produced, cheap recut with a poorly utilized ancient score and awful scene recreations that later got traded in for a weird green tint.

The story of Kai's production is far more interesting than the actual product.

I think the one with Tao, and the one just above that both look a little too bright for my tastes.

Other than that, nice job; looks great. :D

You got me excited for a moment...until I saw that was GT. IIRC at the very least Taiwan, France, and Italy released dvds of GT based off the original D2 footage.

Don't feel too bad. Other than those episodes being a little too bright, your CC looks really nice. Keep up the good work. :D

That looks a lot like the Orange Bricks in terms of colours and the blurry video.

Although actually, it looks a lot more like that encode that's been going around for years that covers the entire run in its Saban form followed by the OG Funi dub, all rather poorly encoded, and never usually going above about 360p resolution.

Perhaps it's the DBoxes CC'd to look like the OBs or the singles. Can't really tell from three screenshots.

Mine used colors from kei17 original broadcast ep 1 hé made with firsts minutes on youtube as à références i don t use funi dvd or bluray that don t have accurate color like dbz 34 for exemple where thé sky is à little green on thé original run but not in the funi bluray (kei17 once say that ob was having few green for the sky)

The problem is, with video quality that low, no amount of CCing could make it look good.

Try getting the Dragon Boxes, or the DVD singles.

Those are the same Dragon Box colors, only the contrast and saturation is extremely blown out.

Honestly, I've always thought that's the only thing the DBox footage has ever needed.

Granted, some of it needs some adjustments to fix crushed blacks or whites, but in general, the relative colours and overall look is just fine, with the only problem being the colour cast.

Having said that, I do enjoy these CC'd screenshots people post, and IMO an ideal situation would be to have Kai-esque colours, although that's very hard to do.

The Buu saga DBox episodes can use a ton of correction IMO. To be honest, up until the post-Kid Buu episodes, which appear to be from a better source, the Buu saga on the Dragon Box is quite fugly, to the point where I'd say the season set looks better, cropping aside (the DVD season set, i dunno how the Blu-Ray looks)
