Yes and the colour of my color correction are not far than these cel one (cel are a little darker than my color correction)

i have a screen about what i mean by bright issue if you correct white... to have a white truly white you will have these kind of issue but if you remain very fvery few tint you don't loose detail.
even with after effect i have that problem

left is the dragon box, right a color correction with truly white

Keep up the good work, maybe one day you'll have success in creating a "perfect" pallet.

thanks but i don't think it is possible even for professionnal....tapes have degrade...even level set that have been said as "color corrected", have few tint.. i think that the only way is to use the same way as kai 1.0 have been done

for what i think (but i can be wrong): we can only reduce tint to minimal thing and approching color of original cels with the dragon box or record all re-runs in the better quality from animax or tokyo-mx airing of dragon ball, z, gt (which use 1st gen master) and just remove tint.

The colors are a little washed, but it doesn't look all that bad by itself.

Not bad, i cannot really tell with just one screen (can you make one with a dark scene with lot of black to see?) grain are gone (i don't like it but it is not what matter) so you loose some details

a scene like that (it is my colour correction dragon box are darker than that you can compare

That final screen looks spot-on, genjo! Very natural colors coming through, no cast. Looks how it should be without too much subjective interference.

No, why would it? It's fiction. The strength of the characters is not possible to reach in reality.
I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

The coloring reminds me of the 2008 Jump Special, especially the orange on the gis.

My own vdub settings:

Additionally, I turned down the saturation because in all honesty, the DBox Buu saga episodes are kinda fugly. Biggest hurdle is Goku's skin is kinda wonky in some places.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!

I think the desaturated look is pretty good. I also think that Goku's undershirt should be a little brighter than its current navy-blue-going-on-black. Love the color of the sky.

I tried that, but the problem is messing with the blue colors beyond hues creates some pretty bad artifacting whenever someone has aura around them.

Those are quite good colors. Piccolo's skin is spot on to the cels!

I just balanced the whites and blacks and used the hue/saturation/intensity filter to alter each color individually.

Gradation Curves. I run everything by Gimp first, though

okay thanks i was wondering if a filter that i haven't can make the things with the black too :)
if i can give you two advice :
- watch for the scene like the one on the top of this page, for the bright and dark scene to see if you didn't loose details, it is sometimes far good in all episode but in the scene like that you loose a lot of things..
- goku's gi is red and become orange when he is in super saiyajin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IYIEt-_yQ0
watch at 6:36 , it is the old master

except this two things it is a really good work keep this way on :)
