Weird, the special isn't being released on a BD disc?

A lot of movies come that way with the main feature being on a Blu-ray and the extras disc being a standard DVD. Not too terribly surprised. Disappointing, but not a huge surprise.

(Well, the special being included AT ALL is a huge surprise, but the bonus disc being a DVD isn't )

Being that both the US and Japan are Blu-ray region A, I have no fear about being able to watch the actual feature on my player. Is it safe to assume though that the bonus DVD with JSAT special is going to be Region 2? I mainly use my PS3 for Blu-ray/DVD viewing and I don't want to have to buy additional hardware just to watch the special.

So I can finally get the JSAT special legally with my Blu-ray limited edition, but I don't have a region free DVD player. Hopefully I can find someway to watch it. Having Battle of Gods and Heya! Son Goku and Friends Return is pretty awesome. So glad they included it.

The JSAT special is likely to only contain the footage instead of the anniversary extra's which can be found on the original limited release from 2008.

I was just wondering if that was the case or not. I seem to recall that when the Yu Yu Hakusho Blu-rays were first released in Japan, the movies and Eizou Hakusho (or maybe just the latter) were included but only on DVD.

Still though, this marks the first time the Jump special has been put out on a legit home release (as in something someone can just go out and buy rather than the mail-order thing) if I recall, so maybe that will make it easier for FUNi to finally get? Maybe it can get shoehorned into their Battle of Gods release, that'd be awesome.

Even though I purposely picked blu-ray because I knew the U.S. shares blu-ray regions with Japan, I don't suppose there's any chance that the "region free" listing on CDJapan means all the discs in the box are region free, does it? TuT

Did anyone else notice that in the photos the bonus disc was a DVD all along? I wanted to mention that here but kept forgetting. I'm totally fine with at least having the special. To those of you that are afraid it won't play on your systems, you should be able to watch it on your computers. From there, I'm pretty sure Roxio can help you make a region free back-up. I've done this with a few of my R2 DVDs, so if anyone needs help, message me!

Are any fluent Japanese speakers going to get together for a fan sub of the movie and special that we play with the Blu-ray and DVD?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention this funny anecdote. A little boy came into work yesterday asking for Battle of Gods. I hated to have to let him know that it wasn't even released in Japan yet.

It's been listed as a DVD all along, and the notes I sent Mike at the time also mentioned such. I guess he neglected to include it in the article. *casually edits original post so it will have been correct the whole time*

What I gather from that (if I'm reading correctly, I'm really tired right now) is that they've gotten in contact with those involved in their dub of dbz. At this point in time they can't confirm anything related to who may or may not become involved their dub of BOG, but they'll let everyone know as soon as they're able to.

Hurry up funimation, fox, or whoever can bring Battle of Gods over to the N.A. I just want to watch this movie. It's like every time I hear news about Battle of Gods the movie laughs at me because I can't watch it.
