Dragon Ball on Hokotate

Now, I've only heard of this show through The Unofficial One Piece Podcast, so my understanding of this may be incorrect, but I believe that this is a Dragon Ball quiz that will be broadcast on the show.

Someone with better Japanese is gonna have to clarify everything here, but I assume it's just a notice asking for applicants.

Thinking back to Greg's experience on this show, I wonder if it will involve Toriyama's editors, as was the case with One Piece. I'm not a major OP, but those podcast episode are worth a listen.

Oh, and not sure if it's necessary but I found it on 2Ch:

Pretty much. They're putting out a call for hardcore DB nerds for what we all assume will be a quiz similar in style to the One Piece segments Greg has been in. In your application email, it even asks for one trivia question of your own devising, probably as a test of how crazy you are about your fandom.

I applied Sunday night. :)

As for the name of the show, Hoko × Tate literally means "Spear vs. Shield", and is a reference to the old Chinese tale that's the origin of the Japanese word for "contradiction". ("There once was a man from Chu who was selling both spears and shields..." Long story short, he advertised the spears to one crowd as able to penetrate any shield, and the shields to a different crowd as able to block any spear. One smartass who was in both crowds then asked him what would happen if he used the spear on the shield.)

You guys should take a look at Julian's twitter. Looks like we have a Saiyan gentleman taking that DB quiz!

I just realized, if Julian gets on the show, and like Greg fought OP's past editors, Julian has to battle Toriyama's past editors, he'll essentially be fighting Piccolo, Freeza, Cell, and Buu, won't he? XD

*There needs to be fanart of this if he gets on the show*

If I remember correctly those four had appearances based off the editors?

Back from Tokyo. Extremely tired.

But it was nearly 10% Kanzenshuu-approved in terms of who was there.

Pretty demanding, and not sure. But they're not going to tell us how we did, only if we're in or not.

Well, not whether we're in. They'll just contact the people they want on the show, so no contact by next Sunday would mean I didn't make it. We'll see what happens.

That fellow who posted early pictures of Chouzenshuu 1 also attended. He mentions seeing a foreigner wearing a scouter there. But he can't quite remember what color the scouter was, and gets a little hung up on it. Fortunately one of his commenters also saw this 外人のスカウター野郎, and confirms that he was wearing a green-colored older model.

Seems Julian made an impression.

Oh, and apparently out of the approximately 40 people there, there were essentially no women.

I hope the fact that Julian made an impression bodes well for him getting invited back. :3

And there were no women at all? That is sad.

Good luck Julian, may the force be with you. I hope someone Youtubes you while you answer questions with a Kanzenshuu t-shirt on.
I want a red scouter, mmm.

To me, it seems being a foreigner is a disadvantage, hopefully not though.

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less about the fans a re-issue might alienate because if all they're concerned about is being able to scalp the people who were either unaware of the Dragon Boxes or couldn't afford them at the time, they're just leeches and deserve to have their greed backfire on them.

There were two women. The woman with the baby (or rather, her husband, who seems to be the one who maintains the blog) was apparently the person who posted the early pictures of the Chōzenshū.

There were two women including one of the managers of that blog named Iinchou, who was holding a baby during the test.

It is rather an advantage, actually.
